Flow Dynamics PETG-HF

My initial ‘lines’ (what are they called?) at the beginning of a print are good but once it starts actually printing it starts all guey and just a blob of melted filament. I’ve cleaned the plate, done the calibration, did a cold pull, cleaned the extruder and ended with a flow dynamics test and this image is the result.

Would you say this is a drying out requirement? The white and orange are brand new rolls of Bambu Lab PETG-HF, dried out for 8 hrs @ 65deg in a Eibos Polyphemus, done the same way as every other roll I’ve ever purchased which have been spot on. The black was also a new roll but that looks fine.

I’m using an X1 Carbon and it’s been pretty much perfect up to this point.

When I used my X1C, for almost two years, I always had to dry PETG HF several times (16 - 24h using the heat bed).

It would otherwise just ooze out of the nozzle when moving. I remember the same results when doing the calibration with out of the box PETG HF

I’ve put the white & orange in for another 8 hour trip, we’ll see how it fairs after that, Cheers

i’ve been feeling a little stuck with my new roll of white petg-hf but i wasn’t done testing my settings. top surfaces have come out a bit unexpectedly messy. i just bought the roll last week. maybe there’s a batch issue!

Yeah it was just last week when I bought this. I’ve never had one problem after the initial drying session but it seemed to be ok after the second round

i skipped the extra drying this time, of course! :face_with_peeking_eye: just a couple months’ break and i can forget so many small process details.
