I just got a “AMS 2 Pro Upgrade Kit” from bambu. Seems like they are sending them out without notice to H2D owners. Unfortunately they sent the wrong power cord, an Australian plug instead of a USA/Canadian one.
Wait why do we need these…? At the risk of reguritating information, our printers run the heater off the unit, I thought we don’t need the external power brick unless more than 1 AMS-2 is installed?
Im thinking the power supply will be needed to dry and print at the same time, once they update the firmware. Thats the only reason they would be sending them out for free with no notice.
I have two AMS 2 Pro units, each with its own power supply. I’m able to print with AMS 1 and dry filament with AMS 2, but the internal power supply of the H2D printer only supports one AMS in dry mode.
The AMS 2 Pro should have included a power supply from the beginning. It’s good that they’re starting to provide them now, but it’s unfortunate for those who already bought the power supplies.
I have had H2D throw a warning and say that drying without a PSU attached will not be ideal. So even though the H2D can power one to dry, perhaps its not full power like with PSU attached. Also maybe the 6 pin AMS cable is not rated for 4a 100w power, so might be a fire hazard (a la qidi tech).
Yeah, I bought two 5-amp power supply on Amazon to avoid putting extra load on the printer’s internal power supply — it’s already handling enough as it is, lol.
Wait the HT doesn’t come with a power supply? Perhaps I should have read the description better.
[Edit]: I just looked, the HT does come with it’s own power cord.
Yes the power supply on the HT is built in, you only need a standard power cord.
