I’m looking for 5–10 Bambu Lab printer owners to test PrintPanel Desktop for Bambu Labs, a local-first Windows monitoring and control application.
Current features include simultaneous monitoring of multiple saved printers, AMS and print-stage status, printer-specific History and SD-card libraries, plate-aware printing, and signed application updates.
Version 0.33.1 has been physically validated with two P1S printers. Printer-changing controls are currently enabled only for the hardware-validated P1S; other detected models remain monitor-only.
The beta is free, does not require an account, and does not include telemetry. Testers should be willing to begin with monitoring, follow a short checklist, and report any problems they encounter.
Learn more or request a testing spot:
PrintPanel is an independent TechTimeGuy Designs project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Bambu Lab.
Not only the P1S. PrintPanel can detect and monitor other Bambu Lab printer models, but printer-changing controls are currently enabled only for the P1S because that is the model I have physically hardware-tested.
Unvalidated models are intentionally placed in monitor-only mode so the application cannot send potentially incompatible commands. Expanding monitoring coverage and safely validating controls on additional models is one reason I’m looking for beta testers.
Correct—the public repository is intentionally a releases-only distribution repository, not the application’s source-code repository. Development remains in a separate private repository during the beta.
The signed Windows installer is available under Releases, rather than in the Code tab:
The public repository contains only the signed release artifacts and customer-facing compatibility, privacy, support and verification documents. PrintPanel is currently free to use, but it is not being represented as open-source software.
Multiple X1Cs would actually be very useful for this beta. The current build should detect them and place them in monitor-only mode because I have not yet physically validated printer-changing controls on X1C hardware.
If you’re interested, I’d appreciate testing basic connection, live status, AMS reporting and simultaneous monitoring across your X1Cs. Please use the “Request a Beta Spot” link on the website and include your Windows version, number of X1Cs, firmware versions and AMS configuration.
Please do not send access codes, serial numbers or IP addresses. Those remain local to your PC.
Once monitoring behavior is validated, enabling X1C controls would require a separate guarded hardware-testing pass.
Well if you’re interested in sharing the code in an auditable format, or the results of static analysis tools for the current release exe, I have an offline lab of a1’s that could use a new central brain.
Thank you—I understand the concern. PrintPanel’s development source is remaining private during the beta, so I cannot offer a source-code audit.
The public release provides an Authenticode-signed installer, cryptographically signed updater package, SHA-256 hashes, release manifest, privacy documentation and compatibility information. I may also publish sanitized dependency and static-analysis summaries in the future, although I recognize those are not a substitute for auditing the source itself.
The current A1 capability is monitor-only; PrintPanel would not act as a control “brain” for an A1 farm at this stage. Printer-changing controls remain disabled until each model receives a separate hardware-safety validation.
If binary-only monitor testing under those conditions does not meet your requirements, I completely understand.
While I’m interested in the software (actually, anything operating outside Bambu’s overcontrolled walled garden is of major interest to me), but since I had a very bad experience with Bambu’s betas, a while back, I’ve decided to no longer use my machines for any kind of beta testing. That being said, I do look forward to the moment when your software will reach the stage of stable release, hopefully by then it will include the X1, P1 and A1 series.
Completely understandable, and thank you for the interest.
PrintPanel does not install printer firmware or modify a printer’s firmware, but I respect the decision not to connect beta software to production machines.
The path toward a stable release is to broaden monitor-only compatibility first, then enable printer-changing controls model by model only after appropriate hardware validation. I hope to cover the X1, P1 and A1 families, but I don’t want to promise control support for a model before it has been safely tested.
Stable releases and compatibility updates will be posted on the website and the public GitHub Releases page. I appreciate the feedback and hope PrintPanel becomes useful for your setup when it reaches that stage.
The signing of the exe isn’t really of interest, plenty of designed malware are signed Not saying yours is, but thems be the requirements. [for me and my shop at least]
I’ve posted a short video demonstration showing PrintPanel running with two physical P1S printers and simultaneously monitoring their local connections:
This shows the current 0.33.1 beta interface and hardware-tested behavior. Additional detected models remain monitor-only until their controls can be separately validated.
