About a month after I started using my X1C, I got a leadscrew lubrication message. Some time around that timeframe, I noted that the machine went from pretty quiet to pretty squealy when the build plate raises and lowers. I have done a few lead screw lubes with the latest being just prior to my last print a couple of weeks ago, but got another notification today. I suspect that one or more of the bearings is already wearing out. Does this make sense, or is there something else I should check? And can I even buy the parts, if it is the bearings, and how tough is it to do this fix?
I think you are likely fine, the message is based on timeframe only to remind you every n hours of print time to do maintenance xyz. So, if you have just lubed the lead screws you should be safe to acknowledge the message so it goes away until the next timeframe.
Thanks, Lenyo. Odd, though, that I did the process the last time it came up, and I’ve done only one print in the intervening time, which is why I was worried. Add to that that squealing noise, and I figured it was something to worry about. I’ll ignore it for now, I suppose…
Sounds like maybe you didn’t confirm the message, you need to do that to reset the timer or it will just keep bugging you about it. Your confirmation is the machines indication that the maintenance is complete, then it resets the timer.
