Frustration with Makerworld

Hello everybody, I’m new here and new to 3d printing. I was wondering that when I find a model that I would like to print on makerworld with the A1 mini listed as one of the profiles, when I download it and bring it into bambu studio the software automaticly goes to a printer like the A1 or the x1 or the ps1. I am clicking on the A1 mini profile and bringing to bambu studio and this happens all the time. What am I doing wrong

Same thing happens to me with my P1S, I think it is a feature gap/‘bug’, rather than you doing anything wrong.

This is a “feature-bug” of cloud slicer which determined that the model would be printable on A1 Mini no prob. If you would’ve used Bambu Handy, they it would allow it to print without a problem. However when you open in Bambu Studio, you get the exact print profile that was uploaded, so it’s possible is one of the other ones. If you switch to A1 Mini and transfer the settings that were changed by profile creator then it will work without a problem.

The inverse is also true, but less of a problem - if a profile was made explicitly for A1 Mini, the owners of other printers opening such profile in their Bambu Studio, will be faced with A1 Mini plate and have to change to theirs.

For me it became nothing more than a minor routine operation.

Can you walk me thru the transfer of these files or is it a hard process?

Assuming you have your printer already setup in Bambu Studio (BS)

Exceptionally easy.

Long description

  1. Download your chosen model
  2. It will show a printer in the top left of the preview tab
  3. If that printer isn’t your printer and nozzle size, select a new one
  4. Select the printer name and a drop down will appear, your printer will be on the list and the one the profile had, choose your printer.
  5. Make sure if you have a 0.4mm nozzle you selected your printer with a 0.4mm nozzle
  6. You are done that easy.

Shorter description

  1. Download model
  2. Change to your printer model in the printers list top left of the preview tab

Done, ready to slice and print.

You may need to move things around, Shift + A auto arranges for you or manually move things. If it was designed for the A1 mini, it should be good already.

Important

You can print models using BS that do not explicitly state A1 mini suitable.

Just follow the same instructions above and see if the model physically fits on the build plate sand slices without issues.

Older print profiles were not automatically made compatible with the A1 mini even if they physically fit on the printer.

So, do not restrict if the model fits, chances are you can print it.
