FTS versus filament compatibility

New to the whole Bambu thing (coming from Prusa) but looking forward to purchasing the X2D. For the price it is amazing value.

Now, looking at the wiki at the section of filament compatibility, with the FTS installed, I see the following note:

After installing the filament track switch, the filament compatibility of the main hotend and the auxiliary hotend only differs for PLA Aero. The auxiliary hotend cannot print PLA Aero.

It implies that some filament/nozzle size combos are no longer compatible with the main hotend while the combos for the aux hotend have been improved somewhat, with the installation of the FTS.

Is that how others read it?

On the same topic, do you need to install a second AMS on the aux side to use the FTS?

That sounds wrong somehow, or you mean something else.

The FTS is designed so that every filament can reach every nozzle in the two PTFE paths (taking into account material compatibility for the right nozzle).

And these are—according to the wiki—two AMS1/AMS2/AMS HT systems.

Anyone adding more AMS to the two PTFE paths using a 4-in-1 adapter (Bambu doesn’t recommend this) must ensure the lowest possible resistance in the PTFE path.

You sure about that? Could’ve sworn I’ve seen 2 AMS units plugged in to the FTS.

Yes I have conencted one AMS, but it prints with one nozzle at the time, kinda pointless, I’m wiating for another AMS now.. It does work with 1 AMS

I successfully use 1 AMS and FTS. The secondary color added to the Aux head. So each time just pull back primary color from main head and pushback the 2nd color to the Aux head. You save the filament cleaning time and also mixed color poopsicles due need to drop out old color from the head. Means filament and time saving
