I need help with my new H2C printer.
With my P1S, I have no issues at all: when I print the same file with identical settings, the result is consistently clean and smooth.
When printing the exact same file on the H2C, however, I encounter problems only on the top layer. The top surface looks rough, uneven, and poorly finished.
What stands out is that all layers below – even several layers down – are perfectly smooth, while only the final, topmost layer shows a significant drop in quality.
To rule out geometry or mechanical issues, I also printed a simple calibration cube. The result is the same:
the side walls and all internal layers look great, but the top layer still looks bad. Because of this, I strongly believe this is not a mechanical issue, but rather a top-layer-specific slicing or printing setting.
How is it possible that, despite using the same file and the same base settings, the P1S produces a perfect top surface while the H2C does not?
Which top layer parameters (such as top surface speed, flow, number of top layers, line width, or cooling behavior) should I adjust so that the top surface looks just as smooth and clean as the layers below?
Unfortunately not. So far, all of my prints look like this – sometimes a bit better, sometimes worse. I can’t get the top layer to look as clean as the surface in the middle of the model.
I’ve had the H2C for about a week now and have been trying to dial in a clean top layer since then. For comparison, I’ve been using my P1S for about a year, it has around 2,500 printing hours, and it has been more reliable and produces better results than the H2C so far.
Can you recommend a specific test? I just wanted to run a calibration, but Bambu Studio doesn’t even show the nozzles. The printer itself is running fine otherwise.
Create a fresh profile for the printer, and just drag and object and slice it with all the defaults.
The bed tramm is the procedure where you physically level the bed with some “hidden screws” but I would test a fresh profile first, fresh new filament.
Since I’ve now tested the filament on the P1S and it shows similar symptoms — not as severe as on the H2C, but still abnormal — I’ll continue testing and keep you updated.
