Golden Textured PEI Plates - Stock vs. Aftermarket experience

On a slightly related note it seems Bambu now has “3D Effect” sheets/plate available now.

The gold pei sheet in my machine

Finally…
And I thought they were reasonably priced until…
I have to install the sheets myself?

I have third party textured and smooth build plates that I use with my P1S. I like 'em just fine. The textured plate for my P1S is my favorite of all my plates.

The textured plates from Bambu don’t seem as top notch, from experience. My memory is a little fuzzy though, so I’ve been questioning myself on the topic a lot. It was a yearish before I got my Bambu, that I had been able to last print. I generally recall the plates like on my vyper to have worked more consistently and without as much maintenance.

For PLA I almost prefer the smooth PEI beds. On my X1Cs, I use the official Bambu plates (I like that it checks the plate to verify I didn’t goof up). I wouldn’t mind trying some other third party texture plates though.

I favor the Bambu Textured plates for like PETG/ABS. I find PLA +/Pro to be the worst, as far as adhesion issues and those texture plates.

I wonder if it’s just the nature of things. I do print a ton more on my Bambu printers than I did on my vypers, so it’s reasonable to consider that I’m wearing through them faster and would need to clean them more. That third party plate I got tends to work better though, so I’m not sure.

Yup. Seems that way.

The upside is that you get to pick which sheets are on the one provided steel sheet. The downside is they only provide one sheet, not 2.

Or just buy the cheaper prefab plates with better PEI surfaces from AliExpress.
It will take about the same amount of time to arrive (at least to the US) and will save money.

Well… I ordered a Black PEI textured/Black PEI Smooth plate four days ago and just got confirmation that the last-mile carrier is speedX.io

YIKES!!! I have dealt with them in the past. They do zero background checks on their drivers, and many of them use their own vehicles. It’s like the Uber of China for doorstep service, except without the security. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and have all my surveillance cameras fully charged. While I may be paranoid, a wise man once said, “Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean someone isn’t out to get you.”

Go check out their webpage and tell me this doesn’t look like a sketchy outfit. No phone number and no physical address and no page listing who the leadership is or what the company background is. The say “tech-enabled”. Sure:

“tech-enabled”= “they hide behind the Internet and use burner cell phones and anonymous PO drop Boxes for commerce.”

Oh well… I knew this was part of the deal when buying from Ally express. We’ll see how this turns out. :crossed_fingers:

IDK @Olias… They’ve got some really fancy animations!

I have never heard of them before.
At least it’s not TForce freight… they only deliver if they’re feeling like it that day.
Let us know how it goes.

Well… my worst concerns were validated. The package is sitting in-country at JFK airport. That’s an impressive 4 days from order. However, somehow the address is incorrect and there is no method on Aliexpress to contact the seller that I could find. What they do is send you to the shipper.

When you visit the shipper website you click on Contact US, you are sent to an FAQ page with no method to enter a message. So this is why I used disposable CC# and billback is shortly going to be in their future.

This is exactly why Chinese businesses have such a horrible reputation and the number one reason I won’t risk more than a $20 purchase with such vendors. We think Bambu is aloof and unresponsive, here you have Alibaba which answers to nobody but the PRC and has made their founder a Billionaire and there is no recourse for customer dissatisfaction.

With this as the standard of conduct with Chinese enterprises, no wonder Bambu feels no pressure to do better. In their eyes, they must be thinking “Well… hell… we’re a 100x better than Alibaba and their a multibillion dollar company so whatcha bitchen about?”

That sucks and is frustrating. I am sorry to hear about your experience.
How bad is the address mistake?

How bad is the address mistake? Let’s put it this way, if it were a targeting system on a nuke, they still wouldn’t have hit it. Somehow they transposed the phone number(fake) and the “where to leave the package” information and nowhere on the order does it have my street address. They have the correct town and zip code though.

The messed up thing here is that if they used a credible shipper, not someone who’s only been in business for 8 months with no way to contact, this would have been a simple fix. Even with the USPS, you can simply redirect to a local post office in the target zip code and show up with ID and claim the package. Same for UPS and FedEx. These guys at SpeedX.io? They are ghosts with no place of business. Even their Top Level Domain .IO is sketchy. If you wanted to resolve a dispute and tried to track down that domain address, you couldn’t. That domain is administered under the British Indian Ocean Territory and is about as reachable by law enforcement as the Cayman Island.

Just like to post an update in here rather than start a new thread. Just got hold of the BL smooth pei and my days is it sexy. Very good adhesion with everything so far, and a lot more reliable with smaller prints than my original textured pei. The material seems more matte finish, it just ‘looks’ like it sticks better before you even print anything. Absolutely love it so far, less corner lift and less brims needed. Top stuff

So I think one could say I was patient. I placed my plate order with AliExpress 30 days ago only for the morons over there to swap my phone number with my street address. The 3rd party that they outsource their last mile freight to is sketchier than a East LA Drug Dealer. I’ve posted that above.

So I figure I’d wait to see what they would do. In each time I contacted the seller, the shipper and Ali Express, each one pointed the finger at the other.

I went to Ali Express today because they say I can’t ask for a refund until 30 days has expired. Because the packages is still listed as stuck at the depot, there solution was that this is not their fault and I need to be patient despite the guaranteed delivery date of June 3rd by which they already gave me a coupon for missing their delivery promise.

Ahhhh… but what they do not realize is the power of US merchant services and the power of temporary credit cards.

Although I wasted hours in various broken English emails with Chinese employees who simply don’t give a ■■■■, my bank reversed the charges online immediately. Total time getting charges reversed, under 2 minutes. Total time dicking around with Ali Express and their minions, 3 - 5 hours. The feeling of sticking it back to them… priceless!!!

I guess this is just the Chinese way of doing business, no responsibility, no accountability and finally, “why are you bothering us, we have your money?”

If I get the energy, I may try my hand at Chinese roulette and see if I can order this at another time.
