I’m of the belief that @MakerWorld has given up. The amount of low quality and no effort spam being uploaded is not being controlled, reporting is futile as going back into some of the history of said offenders shows much the same. Once they manage to get a few downloads it is pointless writing the report as they often get knocked back or ignored, popularity overrides rules.
So @MakerWorld I think its time you dropped the criteria and “Guidelines” as you have lost your grip and people are just posting what they like. I am not bothering to report anything because you aren’t consistent with your adjudication or even keep up. I’m sure the poor person at the other end is there as some form of punishment, it wouldn’t be fun.
This place is looking much like every other model site, I’ve gone back to downloading stl’s off Printables as it seems 3mf print profiles are becoming optional here.
This begs the question, does a resin print take significantly less time for this example or is SUNLU and this person conspiring to point farm (BOOSTED LOL)? I’m guessing this gets a pass because its been downloaded many times and is popular… Liars
I sliced the profile, as it is it would make bed spaghetti loads of it is in supported. I imagine you might get it to print with a lot of work on the supports.
Don’t get me wrong, it would be a great model if presented in a decent print profile. It is a shame they never uploaded the FDM profile rather than hoping someone “random” person would come along and not spoil it. It really isn’t setting a good example when a big player cbf.
I completely agree, it’s a shame a big company couldn’t get one of there people to make a proper profile for it I mean they have the people that can they must test there stuff. My nephew haas it earlier when I was slicing it he wants me to print it for him. Looks like I got to be the smuck to make it work, at least for him😅. Lucky I’ve found a bit of old PLA that I need to get rid of that I can test it with.
I don’t think you could upload that print profile to makerworld. They have a timeout for profiles where slicing takes too long and this one will definitely run into it with tree supports.
@MakerWorld as a website seems to be pretty active, even the way it is managed but I agree about the spam.
the websites is getting full of 2D designs that people could easily print with their inkjet printer, useless coasters and stuff like that… don’t get me started with all the “lamps” with team logos…
it’s very disappointing. I would at least like to see separated cathegories for such models cos when I look for an actual 3D model, I have to manually look for it among all that stuff…
I’m sure there are lots of people interested in those kinds of prints, but it would be nice to be able to check them out of a search job
As of a few hours ago, the files were updated, and a new user (likely a sunlu employee) uploaded 2 FDM 0.2mm nozzle print profiles and real photos of the print in an X1C - glad the spotlighting worked, they should have done that in the first place, but I’m glad they were made to act right
I can’t totaly agree only becuase my anecdotal usage is still always surprised by what I find still. e.g. when I don’t find what I need on MW (I search here first) I go to printables/thingiverse/thangs/yeggi but lately I’ve been re-searching for stuff I came up empty on before and am finding some good stuff. Also the customizeable models are really snazzy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m in the middle of a huge uptick in downloads right now so I’m completely utterly biased (stuffs points in shirt) lol, but though I have my own quibbles with some reports not being acted on; there’s still several that do.
this one just happened a few days ago (the user wasn’t the creator, didn’t remix anything, just stole the model from printables, posted the creator’s pics and even copy pasted verbatim every word of the description including some self deprication and self referencing. probably an easy one to act on - my biggest complaint about MW are print profiles being allowed to be made on our models, and people stealing our models and posting remixes without attribution - against the Creative Commons license - some have been taken down, others have not. I try to ignore them, makes me mad when I see them getting boosts and hundreds of points… but at least mine are featured and getting more points. lol so like i said, my perspective is skewed.
I’ve seen a few variations popping up and the couple I seen printed look half decent. One viable print was split and done at various angles and it came together really nice (I can’t look for it presently but it was today). Good on ya Uncle
It didn’t have a hope, but fans will give it a go and make something work. My complaint is that work should have been done in the first place and not reliant on others.
Yeah the first guy was sacked I think… The whole point shouldn’t need to be raised every time, I get it can be overwhelming but when they play favourites I’d rather drop the rules altogether and let this place burn.
I also reported several times profiles or models. Every single time was successful. Indeed, my last report took more days than usual to be solved.
I’m sure this problem would be more evident on all other platforms if there was rewards like on Makerworld.
We want an army of Bambu employees to work on verifying models all day ? People will always find a way to get easy money.
Indeed, this must be contained as much as possible, but will be impossible to have it perfect.
I’ve found my models sold on different websites, without permission … this is happening everywhere it’s money involved.
Also, people don’t get tired of bringing Printables on the table like it’s the perfect platform ? Of course there are less problems when the rewards are so low compared and they take 14 days of account verifying to give you a filament spool from your collected points.
Maybe Bambu should do the same. When you request gift cards, a Bambu employee should verify the user account for any suspicious activity. But we need bigger gift cards, otherwise they will have to work too much … compared to printables
Yeah I’ve seen the glued ones too, some look pretty good. Spent a couple of hours fixing the mesh on the model last night and think I’ve got the supports almost sorted. First test print shows be done in a couple of hours, need adjust the support interface as one on the model came loose. Funnily enough it’s the same pice that’s missing on the new posted print profile, the bottom of the beard on the face on the belt buckle. Thing I’m not looking forward to is he’s going to want it painted, haven’t done that in like 25 years😂
