Yup, that’s $67.38 by my reckoning. Over the holidays I found Kingroon HS-PETG for around $69. At first I was worried it would be some kind of counterfeit rip-off using rejected material, being Aliexpress and all, but so far no problems.
I know it’s a bit off topic (as happens organically from time to time for the greater good), but are there any other brands even less expensive that are still worthwhile and worth considering? Usually if I go through the effort of dialing in a filament really well once, it all works out OK going forward from there. Having been through this a few times, I’ve got my dial-in routine pretty well established, and it’s just something I do that fills the time between prints that matter. i.e. it’s just machine-time, no longer much me-time.
Surprisingly, I’ve had good experience in buying 10kg lots from both Aliexpress and Temu.
Although not quite as inexpensive, I’ve had really good experience with Elegoo’s Pro PLA. Probably the best PLA I’ve ever used. Far more rigid than regular PLA, so it doesn’t warp when printing ultra large size prints. It’s more like $10/kg on amazon if you buy in 10kg lots and catch it on sale, but for the large print applications, it’s worth it.
Pinball PETG on Amazon. Depending on time of day and humidity, you can pick up the 4spool packs anywhere from $35 to $40. Prints fine with high flow nozzle on X1C. I’ve gone through 15kg in the last few weeks and never had a problem with bad adhesion or clogging.
Yes, it caught my attention in the past. I haven’t seen a “high speed” or “high flow” version from Pinball though. Not everything follows that naming convention though. For instance, Bambu and eSun PLA would be deemed “high speed” in the past, but now they’re being sold as simply “Basic PLA”. What are you measuring as the Maximum Volumetric Flow (mm^3/sec) on it?
I’ll usually dig in to the cheapo filaments on Amazon to see whats what and I’ve had pretty good experiences. Years ago when Sulu wasnt as popular and i was still using my Ender 3 I couldnt get it to work for crap, but not its been great. I use CC3D’s silver PETG exclusively for something I sell. My first love way back in my first printer (Monoprice Maker Select v2…aka Duplicator i3) I fell in love with NovaMaker though I havent used that in awhile since Kingroon took over as my go to. I have a purple PETG from 22 Network, its the same spool as Kingroon, works great. I’ll go with Creality or Comgrow if they price is lower then the rest as I havent had issues with their PETG either. Elegoo’s PETG i tried was great and their PLA was some of the best wrapped I’ve seen when I used that. Oh another one that I think is actually just Sulu varient is TECBEARS, no issues but the plastic spool is light so near the end it will jump around on ya. GIANTARM has been fine for me as well. 3DHoJor is another usually cheap brand in cardboard spool I’ve used with good results. Anycubic PLA was also fine. I stopped using eSun mostly cuz of the price but back in my CR10 v2 days if I left it sit after a week or so the PLA would snap and I’d have to take the bowen tube off the extruder and pull it out. It was the only filament that did that to me, but i never had a reason to go back to it. I just tried this gold PETG called “NevsBye” ended up returning it cuz it just wasn’t giving me good results. Granted I never tuned it, i was lazy and everything else i’ve mention has worked without doing much tuning. SainSmart was my go to for TPU, then it got expensive and Overture came out and replaced it, but then that got expensive lol. I’m sure theres some more like Eryone, also fine, but thats a small list of brands I’ve gotten through amazon

Maybe we’ll see more sales as we get closer to Valentine’s day. The sales seem to come on stronger at holidays.
AnyCubic is one brand that I avoid though. Perhaps it has improved since I last tried it, but I doubt it. I’ve had nothing but disappointments with that brand of filament, regardless of type.
Rumor has it that eSun is who makes Bambu’s PLA (either that or they both get it from the same other source). Characteristics seem pretty similar, including MVF.
Also, out of all the high speed PETG’s I’ve tried, Sunlu’s has by far the highest MVF. I’ve measured it at 38mm^3/sec from a standard 0.4mm H2D nozzle using the calibration test, and I de-rate that to 35mm^3/sec for everyday use without issue. Most often what’s available is the matte version, though, or that’s what they send even if you order non-matte on Amazon. Anyone know of a high speed PETG that tops that?
Allegedly AzureFilm PETG Hyper Speed can go as high as 85, but I’ve not tried it, so I can’t confirm. If anyone reading this post has tried it, though, please post and let us know. The only place I’ve found that sells it is 3dJake, and it’s about $11.80/kg in a 10kg lot. Unfortunately, 3djake’s price to ship it to the US is insane ($142) , so… I need another source.

Yeah I never really had print issue with eSun, but like i said it was the only filament that would snap on me chilling in the extruder for longer than like 5 days or a week and it just got annoying to have to remove it to refeed it and its not like the price is worth it anymore. I use Sulu often on my P1S, but its not the high speed and its glossy as I like that better after ironing for my use case. I wish Bambu had a glossy PETG, i dont use their PETG to often unless I feel like burning a gift card to make something for around the house.
SUNLU operates dozens of production lines and often white-labels its products, with Jayo, Kingroon, and Tecbears frequently identified as rebranded SUNLU filaments.
Inland is said to be one of those"white label" brands, and so is Bambu. I have no way to verify those claims.
Jayo has worked well for me, and their spools carry 1.1kg of filament instead of just one, so consider that extra 10% when comparing prices. AliExpress and Temu usually have decent prices on bundles.
Inland is Polymaker & eSun, at least last time I got any to test. There have been some rumors they switched entirely to one or the other, I can’t remember which.
Bambu is mostly eSun, some Polymaker, probably some kecelled for the esthetics. They might be making their own black & white in a few of their lines like basic and PETG-HF also, people report they behave differently.
