My H2D just arrived and right after the initial calibration I noticed this buildup of grease on one of the Z-rod screws.
Is this normal? Should this grease actually be somewhere else?
I checked the other Z-rod screws and none of them have this much grease. Everything seems to be working fine, but I’m a bit worried that this grease may have come from a place where it’s actually needed.
Has anyone seen this before?
I guess the guy greasing the Z-screws at the factory was in a hurry and added a bit too much. When lowering the table for packing, the grease was dragged down to the lowest point on the screw.
If there is a nice film of grease on the screws, I wouldn’t worry, and you have some spare grease.
You’ll notice the first time you lubricate them yourself that, no matter how thin a layer you apply, it will always be too much. I apply a normal thin layer, run the bed up and down a couple of times, and then wipe off the excess. If you leave it, it will attract dust, filament debris, etc., which just makes things a bit messier. It’s not dangerous for the machine, at least.
