I might be missing something here but how are people allowed to used the Exclusive Standard Digital File License for Gridfinity based designs?
I would have thought that based on Zach Freedman’s original licences that these models should not be restricted in this way and carry over the original terms?
Am I missing something or is this something falling through the cracks like all the exclusive models published here that are on printables with different terms already

As long as it is NOT a remix but a completely from scratch designed accessory (just like with an add on for your Bambu printer) it can be uploaded in any format? Even though I think it goes against the spirit of the gridfinity system
Yeah the license is not clear (MIT software licence) but I very much feel it’s against what he was doing with Gridfinity like you.
If it is literally something originally published under the MIT license then they couldn’t use SDFL on makerworld unless they can figure out a way to attach the original copyright/license also. And note that the MIT license grants more rights than the SDFL so they would be in conflict but this doesn’t violate any rules or law that I know of.
The “exclusive” part just means that it is only available on makerworld, so if it is available elsewhere it is a violation of the terms of that program. You don’t need to be exclusive to use the SDFL on makerworld.
If a model is both on printables and an exclusive on makerworld that would be a violation of the terms of the exclusive program. If you are interested in helping makerworld by offloading work from their paid staff you could flag it for them to examine, it’s a popular pastime here.
The real question here is: do we honestly believe Bambu Labs cares? Someone who actually does care—not me—should ping Zack Freedman so he can file a copyright strike with Bambu. That, at least, they do respond to… or at least they did back when MakerWorld was new, and they were still pretending to care.
