Griding noise coming from printer

Hey there! I have a Bambu Lab A1 and it has just started making this grinding noise. It doesn’t make it with all movement, seemingly only when both the x and y-axis are moving at the same time? I don’t hear the noise at all while the printer is homing for example. I’ve re-lubricated the y-axis rails in case that has anything to do with it.

Here is a link to hear the grinding noise: Bambu Lab A1 Grinding noise - Album on Imgur

I did just have an accident with the printer last night. There was an object that got stuck underneath the right side of the x-axis rail while it was descending which lifted the whole printer up. I caught it pretty quickly so it didn’t stay like that but the x-axis had descended most of the way to the plate. Could that be related?

It seemed like the printer may have been out of alignment for a sec because my first print after the incident was having some adhesion issues. It almost looked like one side was closer to the nozzle than the other. I cleaned the plate, ensured it was on correctly with no debris under it, and have since printed a build plate level test print with no issue. Prints are able to come off of it alright now but the grinding noise is still concerning.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, so I would say that the sound comes from very small movements from the y-axis. The model in the video has very small areas, so the printer has to make very small movements, both on the X and Y axes. I also have the noise when he has to print very short distances. So should not be a problem. Test the printer with another print with longer routes, the noise should not occur. Are just the stepper motors that have to take very small steps.

Hey! Thanks for responding. The noise is definitely from when the printer makes small movements but the grinding noise is so loud! I’ve been printing on this for awhile and I’ve printed minis on it which require a ton of small movements and I’ve not heard it before
