Grinding in several spots

My A1 printed great until Saturday morning when I went to start a new print. I updated the firmware on Friday but it did work after that. Now, it grinds in several different spots. Sorry about the AMS in the video, but you can clearly hear the 3 or 4 grinding spots.

The first error was a Y-axis error, so I followed the “Y-axis guide rail lubrication guide.”

Did nothing

I went step by step through the A1 periodic Maintenance Recommendations twice.

Nothing

I was running the calibration when this error appeared: HMS_0300-1000-0002-0001: The 1st order mechanical resonance mode of X axis is low.

I followed the guide to fix it.

I have had nothing but problems with this machine! Now what?

Sounds like the X-axis belt is very loose, and is slipping on the drive pulley under any load.

Would that be a replacement to fix or is there another way? Thanks for your response!

I don’t know. Suggest you have a go at taking off the drive motor cover and having a look. Check for belt tension, and/or belt teeth wear leaving debris near the pulley. Should be possible to run the printer X-axis with some covers off, so you can see what’s actually going wrong.

I was able to fix the grinding by pulling things apart and oiling them up. Now, though, it’s clicking and extruding very thin strings.

I know the clicking. My first 3d printer was a Qidi and it did that all the time. I’ll mess with temps here in a bit. However, the extruded part on the bed is confusing. It’s almost fluffy, like strands of cotton.

When loading filament, it extrudes a nice looking line of filament. It’s only messing up when I print. I’ll try and include the video so you can see what I mean by cotton-like.

You have a blocked nozzle, I think. That click is the extruder torque relief clutch: you can see the rotation indicator jumping every time it clicks.

The filament tangle sensor isn’t compressed, so it’s most likely a blockage between the filament drive gears and the nozzle outlet.
