H2 Extrusion Gears

In the middle of an ABS print.

Extruder stopped pulling filament.

Tore toolhead apart and I cannot find anything wrong. I can push filament down to do a clogged head pull, but it will not pull the filament itself.

The gear turning indicator shows the gears are turning.

Did the filament pulling gears wear out this fxcking quickly?

There is a common problem with some batch of gears. The wheel comes loose from the spindle, inspect it.

Well, I am order a few. I would love to order the filament sensor at same time (cause I know one of these days, I’ll tear the flex cable.

I tore it all apart because I could not get filament to feed through the extruder. It would get so far and no more. I thought it was jammed.

If it was I never saw a reason for it. Upon taking it apart the first time, that tension spring sprung hit the walls and bounced around.

When I re-assembled, I put the silver cap on the wrong end of the spring and the machine screw had nothing to push again.

So I am dumb as usual.

Now the funny thing, I repeated the head clog pull a second time. Each time, there was still white ABS on the sides of the black ABS.

Maybe it was a head clog all along?

The head clog removal procedure in the H2S is brilliant! I wish my K2 Plus Special POS Edition model, and X1C had that (I haven’t looked through the X1C’s menus for a while, maybe it has been added).

So, I think I solved my own problem that I was panicked about an hour ago. That seems to always happen. I ask for help and then solve the issue shortly afterwards.

This could be a lesson, look at the part replacement guide first. I put several gears in my shopping cart and then noticed right on the part sales page they have a link to instructions on how to replace the part! BAMBU Labs is brilliant!!

I have one other issue tonight, that cannot be solved. Earlier today, the Refill spool came apart in the AMS2. I KNOW I had it together correctly to begin with! I lost a new roll of ABS. Maybe that is why not to buy refills. I am going to try to unspool half the roll, throw that bunch out and save the last half of the roll, but I do not have another idea. These are grey BAMBU LABS PTEG refill rolls that I bought from EBAY. Bambu didn’t have any stock at the time. Maybe this is why the guy was selling five of them. That is non-sequitur to this topic; sorry.

You could open a support ticket for the issue. But having been through all the stages you have been through, I am not sure you can define the initial issue clearly to support.

Still worthwhile trying.

Trying to find on their website to message support should come with a free package of cheese if you can find it. I emailed them with another issue last week, they emailed back the next day saying they do not except email support requests and then provided the link. I followed it and have yet to receive a reply. Since then the fine fokes on here helped me out and I ordered more parts, and for now, have it solved.

I do tend to panic as first when I run in to an issue, and I do not know why I do. I am good at electronics, and have been my whole career, but mechanics sometimes cause a panic and loose patience; dunno why. Then for an hour or so last night, I learned how to tear the extruded head apart and put it back together about four times (4th time was the charm) and learned out how to de-clog the head. It’s not that I am bad with mechanics, they just always scare me. Short term memory of how something came apart, and which screw goes where, can cause anxiety with me - lol. I must say, Bambu spent a lot of time creating their step-by-step tear down and part replacement guides.

The idea for opening a ticket was more so you didn’t have to pay for the replacement parts.

And yes, it’s always better to read the wiki when you start taking components apart.

I am quite confident myself in taking apart electromechanical devices, but still some reading upfront helps to not overlook things.

I do okay, once I get going and have done it recently. It’s just that I tend to panic over a 10 minute mechanical fix. lol I don’t like my toaster breaking at the most inopportune time.

Yes, I was hoping they would say “Don’t worry we will send you some parts”. In this case, they told me the spare parts were included with the printer - lol. I already had just used those after sending them the support message.
