H2C constant wifi problems

Hi, i have very bad wifi situation since the upgrade from H2S to H2C. I have had stabile connection without problems before the conversion, but since it got the H2C AP board the wifi has become very unreliable. Nothing else changed except the printer upgrade, nor the network config, nor the Access point or printer location. I have Unifi Access point and switch and it is stable and well performing with every other device.

The connection between Bambu Studio and the printer constantly drops, and the printer goes Orange in the device tab with message ā€Failed to connect to printerā€. Sometimes if i cycle back to Prepare tab, then back to Device tab it reconnects and shows data again. Some times i have to quit and re-open Bambu studio.

Sometimes the device is oranged out with the same error message, but the hardware info, or even the camera stream is working actually, but i can not start new print because it says printer is disconnected.

Sometimes after losing the connection and reconnecting, the print progress is stuck in a de-synced state, and while the printer is idle for hours it still shows ā€œX% printingā€ from last job. Pressing refresh , or cycling between tabs does not help, Bambu Studio has to be restarted to be able to send prints again.

Sometimes when the printer looks its connected and in sync, but when trying to send a print job it shows an error: ā€œFailed to send nozzle auto-mapping request to printer code -4 please try to refresh the printer information. If it still does not recover, you can try to rebind the printer and check the network connectionā€œ. Either the printer has to be restarted in this case, or re-binding is needed. Nothing else helps.

It is very frustrating at this point. I’ve opened a support ticket, and Bambu Support suggest restarting the router, and disabling firewalls (??!) which of course does not help at all.

Of course i’ve double checked the wifi antenna connection and it is properly connected. I have also put it in LAN mode, but it did not fix the problems.

Anybody else having similar issues?

Check your Wi-Fi antenna connections and make sure everything is seated and engaged properly. Those little connections are very finicky.

Failing that, keep working with support - the sooner you exhaust their troubleshooting process the faster you will get somewhere pushing them to replace whichever board runs the wifi.

Does your WiFi router/AP have a UI to see what devices are connected, what protocol/speed, etc? If so, what does it show for the printer?

Probably not your case, but just to throw this out there… I thought I had very poor WiFi on my H2C when I first started using it, even with the AP in the same room (and working fine). Turned out the printer was connecting to different AP (on the same LAN with same SID), which was > 50 meters and 4 walls away, and barely had any usable signal. All my other WiFi devices in this building preferred the closer/stronger signal, but not the printer for some reason. I actually had to set the distant AP to deny the printer connection before the printer finally chose the closer/stronger one. I’ve never seen (or noticed) any other device doing such silly things. :person_shrugging:

I have only a single AP, so its not possible in my setup. Althrough the H2C does not drop the connection, it is clear that it has some WiFi issues. Purple is Before AP board replacement to H2C, Yellow is after.

I have checked the antenna connection two times already, properly seated ā€œclicked inā€ on the connector. I have sent more info to Support ticket and hope this gets resolved because i must re-pair my printer basicly every time before i can start a print, and can’t monitor remotely.

I have a very capricious H2c when it comes to wifi, while my P1S has no issues.

I’m having problems here as well. Bambu Studio often shows a connection error, even though the computer and the router are in the same room. The signal is at full strength, but it still shows this error. I have to restart Bambu Studio for it to reconnect.

So i just nabbed a new H2C and was googling all over for a solution for ā€œā€¦the printer connects to my Wi-Fi but fails the internet checkā€¦ā€ issue. Turned out it was my adblocker. I’m running Unifi and had to disable/pause it for it to connect. Just my two cents.
