H2C Firmware V01.01.01.00 Now in Public Beta!

i never had to do anything for my external drives. buy better usb drives.

Yeah, definitely buy better USB drives… All 3, same brand, love the h2d without interruption, h2c no bueno after 2 weeks. Weird that the h2d loves my terrible USB drives but the h2c doesn’t…

There is a second revision of the beta firmware but the release notes are the same. What was changed or optimized in the version that was released yesterday compared to the first release?

I have a few things to rule out still, but one thing I’ve noticed is my first layer quality using an ams-ht on the left hot end seems to have started under extruding a little. Was perfect before the update. I’m going to do a cold pull and test a few other variations to see if I can rule out filament or equipment issues before I suspect the firmware may have changed something.

I did also notice that when the vortek is loading the hot end from spot 1 it doesn’t seem as smooth. I suppose the only way I can see if it’s real or I’m imagining things is if I revert back to the last official firmware and see if it smooths out. It doesn’t fail, it just seems a bit clunkier when it inserts the hot end.

looks like another revision was just released, just got notification and installed 01.01.01.01.

Any chance we could get the release notes BEFORE the update rolls out?

my guess is that they just used this revision to cover the bigger beta tester pool

Would you mind telling me what model of USB flash drive you’re using? We may look into buying one and running some tests. From a design standpoint, there should be no difference between H2C and H2D when it comes to USB flash drive handling.

I also noticed differences in 1st Layer behavior - but for me it is a positive change!
A full bed dimension first Layer test print showed ripples especially in the front region meaning nozzle too close to bed. A full calibration didn’t help. After Beta FW update and after I repeated the full calibration including autobed leveling, 1st Layer is as perfect as it is for my two P1S

Is it physically the same USB-drive or did you just use the same type in the H2C?

In other words. Have you tried to swap them around?

3 exact same models of ssk. Ordered one when I bought the h2d at release, reordered another at the h2c release, and then ordered a 3rd when the h2c was having the issue, thinking the one I ordered for the h2c was bad. After the 2nd one didnt fix the problem, I swapped the original from the h2d to the h2c and it also needed to be reformatted after 2 weeks. I had high hopes for the third one I ordered since it lasted 3 weeks before the format versus the normal 2 week-ish timeframe I had been seeing, lol.

SSK - SD450
1TB External SSD, USB-A adapter, USB3.2GEN2 CtoC Cable

Clear! The solution can sometimes be simple. In this case, it wasn’t.

Side note, the last time it corrupted the hard drive, I lost all ams data assignments, like it was a fresh install and had to remap like such.

It’s possible. It looks like they just removed number 5 on the feature optimization and left everything else alone.

Please try to open a ticket, and include the log files for your case.
This will help us to further troubleshoot this issue and identify the root cause.

Thank you.

Thank you. I will have to search the wiki for how to upload the log files from the h2c, can’t be as bad as the jtag operation I have to do on mazak lasers… lol

@kip how did you get the updated firmware? I have to use the USB device as we can’t connect the printer to the Wifi in our company.

Unfortunately, beta firmware is not available as an offline update.
The only solution is to wait for the final release, when the offline update files will also be published.

The beta testing period has ended. The latest version V01.01.02.00 will be available later today.

Thank you for helping to test the new firmware!
