H2C fresh from the Box, first fluctuating impressions

I got my H2C delivered today which is replacing my flawless behaving H2D.

The negatives so far:

  • No Screen Protection on the Display - so out of the box some micro scatches against light
  • The Display does clatter when touched (fixed it with adhesive doublesided tape)
  • The rear Exhaust Fan or some electronics makes some sort of quit but perceptible (maybe electric) chirping - not yet locatable
  • The Info Section tells me that the machine has already exactly one hour of operation time

Compared to my absolutely flawless and noiseless and not clattering display behavior H2D this is not very pleasing so far.

The positive (because there are some threads):

  • The Vortek Rack Calibration executed flawless (no preheating or anything else)

So the first impressions do not impress me very much. Dont get me wrong, this machine looks badass and if its working like my H2D than all is fine but honestly… quality wise this leaves the impression its not the actual top notch/alpha machine of their lineup.

I will set the machine on its place by the weekend and do the full calibration, hook up the AMS´ses etc. But to be honest, right now (also because of the price) this is the first time since years i am in the process of considering returning that thing. Maybe it is me but if i buy top notch in the lineup of an manufacturer i do in fact expect more. Right now this machine does not feel like a top of the line upgrade (from the sold H2D)

Not to meant as rant, maybe it´s worth for someone.

did the h2d have a screen protector installed ? For the other issues seems you have maybe a less than perfect unit mine don’t do these things.

I can’t confirm this. Must be production tolerances of the specific parts. I’m now on 150h and not a single bad print. Printed PETG, PLA, PETG-CF and PC in heated chamber mode, so far. No strange noises.

Today I ordered the Brotect anti glare matte screen foil from Amazon Germany, these foils are amazing.

Once my H2C arrived, I wasn’t sure if there is a screen protector on it, But I got the Info from the Forum. Almost invisible, there is a protection film on it!.I needed 15 Minutes to get it off. I tried adhesive film without success. In the end I could lift one edge with my finger nail. I am absolutely happy with my machine, no quality issues. I can’t remember if I already had one hour of operation time. Maybe they are calibrated/tested at the factory

Indeed on my H2D there was a protective foil. And yes, thats a bit silly but the first impression after unpacking the device. I would not like a new smartphone without celebrating the removal of the protection :smiley:

With one hour of operation out of the factory i´m fine but that is in fact the the third (noise, screen protector/microscratches) mini thing i noticed within a couple of minutes.

As already statet i will finalize the machine and its components and finally do a complete calibration and then hopefully report back more positive.

I got mine in December and only after reading this post have realised there is a screen protector (managed to peel from the corner).

It is very well disguised, not surprised the OP missed it.

As for the build quality, my h2c is superb. I guess the OP must have been unlucky (although I didn’t think to check the usage time when I first powered up)

I have over 400 h on my H2C and it have been a smoth ride.

Everything works not a bad print .

I have upgraded it with the Laser and Cut upgrade so is impressed with it.

I have had BL printers for 1,5 years and is impressed with the company.

My H2C is a bit more than a week old. Only issue I had was getting the PTFE tubes seated so the AMS could get filament to the printhead. Once I got that sorted, it’s been smooth sailing. No funny noises, no rattling display panel. Came out of the box in pristine condition. Been running great. Ran a print specifically designed to flog the left extruder. Watching it swap nozzles is almost hypnotic. :slight_smile:

So let me get this straight:

You received the printer today, didn’t remove the screen protector, didn’t print anything, didn’t finish calibration, didn’t hook up the AMS… and yet we already have a “negative review.”

Bold strategy.

You report micro-scratches on the display, but somehow the giant protective foil remained invisible. That’s like complaining your new phone screen is blurry while still using the shipping film. If that went unnoticed, it does make one wonder what else quietly slipped past the “technical inspection.”

The printer has one hour of runtime — which is almost certainly factory QA and transport testing — but apparently that’s now evidence of a used machine. Next we’ll be shocked it has fingerprints from the assembly robot.

The “mysterious electronic chirping” could be anything: fan PWM, coil whine, stepper resonance… or just a piece of packing tape you haven’t removed yet. At this stage it’s basically Schrödinger’s noise.

What’s really impressive is how confidently conclusions are drawn from a printer that has not yet printed a single model. No test cube. No benchy. No real-world comparison to the H2D. Just vibes and a cling-wrapped screen.

If you want to compare an H2D and H2C, the wild idea would be to print the same model on both machines and show photos. That would actually tell people something. But instead we’re reviewing how the display sounds when you tap it.

The machine looks badass, the calibration ran flawlessly, and it hasn’t even been fully set up yet — but we’re already considering a return because it doesn’t feel premium enough out of the box. That’s less a hardware review and more an unboxing mood swing.

Right now this isn’t a printer review — it’s a first-impressions diary written before the printer was allowed to do the one thing it was built for: print.

First of all change your tone and do learn to read and understand what you´re reading.

I never stated this as an review. I´m not a Reviewer.

This was just my experience with this particular machine immediate after unboxing.

Someone else here stated the protection foil topic, not me.

I just compared the first impressions between H2D and H2C and nothing else.

Sorry that this all is obvious such a trigger for you but i have my opinion and i do hope i´m allowed to have a own opinion as as far as i know i do not life in North Korea.

Don’t feel bad. It took me 3 prints to find and remove all the foam pieces from inside the build chamber. And it wasn’t until my 4th print that I realized I hadn’t removed the tape from the vent louvers in the back of the machine. :slight_smile:

LOL, same… had to go look just now. It’s an actual protector, not just a shipping film… nice touch. No scratches or cloudiness, leaving that puppy on.

No complaints about mine, solid as a rock. The packaging was freakin’ spectacular… I was sure it’d be toast after traveling across the entire US with FedEx Ground, but nope… came out perfect.

I recently purchased a UV laser, shipped from China. The packaging was top-notch. The box hadn’t been abused, but it was clear it would have taken quite a bit before the laser was damaged. I had to go find an unboxing video on-line to figure out how to get it all out without destroying the box.

The H2C was a little easier to unpack, but I was still pretty pleased with the packaging. The box was not in as good a shape as the laser’s larger/heavier box, but the machine inside was pristine. I particularly liked how the outer box lifts off the printer. No having to reach in and try and lift something heavy, that’s got a tight fit, out of a tall cardboard box. I did not have to find an unboxing video. :slight_smile:

If their quality control hasn’t improved, you’ll likely encounter screws that are either overtightened to the point of breaking during maintenance, or so loose that they fall out on their own.

I haven’t seen this issue on my X1 Carbon, but all my AMS units (2 original, 4 AMS 2 Pro, and 4 AMS HT) have shown inconsistent torque on the screws — some overtightened to the extent of damaging PCBs, and in the case of my H2D, even stripping the threads completely. Most of these problems were found in the toolhead, and I only discovered them after failures of the hotend and part cooling fans.

While not everyone may experience this, it seems that some operators on Bambu Lab’s assembly line are either under too much pressure or lack proper awareness of the correct torque levels for threaded components.

Indeed in the first batch the shipping screws for example where silly hard to remove with the tools they provide. If anything there might be some variation in who builds them i hope they resolved but we all know the term ‘monday lemon’ is a real thing for decades it can happen.

have to agree. I also have overtightened screws on the right heating element. What i also dont get: Sometimes the PTFE Tubes to the Nozzles are too short (buffer clicking), sometimes they are too long (hitting the glass). It would be so easy to find a perfect length and than just use that during every build. Instead it seems that they more or less eyeball everything.

its still the case. I got mine on monday.

At least they promised to forward my questions about the correct torque levels to the R&D team for further investigation. As we all know, no threaded fastener benefits from being overtightened. On my CNC machine, the screws range from 4 N·m up to 37 N·m, and if you apply the wrong torque to the wrong screw, you either damage the screw or strip the threads. So let’s hope they come up with something sensible.

They have also promised to review the overall serviceability. In other words, you should not have to disassemble 50% of the printer just to replace a wear part. Of course, there will always be some components that are harder to reach, but if they can simplify the daily and monthly maintenance, everyone will be happier – including their support team.

clatter? like if is getting detached?

I have a H2D, its by far my favorite printer I ever had. I dont think im fully sold on the nozzle changer part.
