H2C Grid Infill - how do they do it?

I just got my H2C a few days ago. Been throwing random stuff at it to see how it performs (great so far, BTW). But the print I’m running now, I wasn’t paying a lot of attention when I set it up. It’s running Grid Infill at 25%. It is making absolutely no noise from the grid crossings. Silent as the outer wall extrusion. And this is PETG and the nozzle isn’t picking up any excess from the crossovers.

How is the H2C gliding silently over Grid Infill?

I might go back to using it again.

I don’t know if it’s placebo, the updated enclosure, or something else they’ve done but I’ve had a similar experience with the H2C. It’s definitely quiet over grid with no noticeable crossover issues compared to my P1.

How about “reduce infill retraction” before and after? influences the travels

Less retraction, I’d expect to see stringing. More retraction, I don’t think would make things quieter - less plastic is less lubrication. It’s not like it’s just better sound proofed, either. I don’t feel the motion stage vibrating over the bumps like every single other FDM printer I’ve ever owned including the X1C.

No, i mean the literal setting named “reduce infill retraction”, in “other”

It’s name is insufficient, it does what it says on the tin: doesnt retract while moving over infill cuz, yeah, who cares about ooze there…. but if your filament profile uses zhop (99% it does) you now no longer zhop during those travels. Travels are usually your printers fastest hardest accelerations, and planar flexing, nozzle precision in z space, raking, blahblah blah
