I got my H2C and I’m struggling to get this thing to work. Everything was going well till I got to the Hotend Rack Calibration and it keeps failing. I’ve gone through all the troubleshooting with no success. I know there’s not a lot out there that have the H2C yes but curious to see if anyone that does has had the issue and found a fix?
I have probably the same Error (HMS_1A00-1200-0002-0001: Hotend rack calibration failed: camera calibration data is abnormal. Please clean nozzle residue, check whether the heatbed thermal paper is intact, and remove any debris from its surface)

sadly i found no fix. i opened a ticket.
I’ve had that error as well as 1a00-4007.and nothing has worked. Talked to support and logged a ticket as well. Not what I was hoping for with a brand new printer that still hasn’t even touched filament
yeah i think the same. could you share a picture how your thermal paper looks like?
My printer arrived today with the same issue. I clean things anyway but that didnt help. So I looked here wiki.bambulab.com/en/h2c/troubleshooting/hmscode/1A00_1200_0002_0001 and followed Step 3 to remove the sensor. I carefully unplugged the cable, plugged it back in, and then reattached. And now the printer calibration finished succesfully. I assume the cable here wasn’t in all the way … or I somehow just got lucky this last time.
Thanks for sharing this, I had not tried this yet. Unfortunately for me it didn’t work. Only good thing to come out of this now is I can take apart and put back together an H2C in my sleep. Feels like my unit is defective and still waiting for technical support to respond after the video I sent in.
I had the same problem, always the same error 1a00-4007. Even updating the firmware didn’t help. I couldn’t do it so I wiped the thermal sensor on the board with my bare finger and suddenly the calibration went through without any problems.
I’m surprised at how many seeming to have similar issues and how many different fixes have worked for different people. Still nothing that has worked on my end. Had to cancel some orders I foolishly took when my H2C arrived, my P1S’s are unfortunately too small
I have a feeling this is going to be a while before I get resolution on this one
Bambu Lab was very helpful and they send me a spare part.
I also received the “Induction camera position calibration failed” error and the fix (for me) was extremely simple:
- Low ambient temperature causes the thermal paper mark to fade too quickly, making the toolhead camera unable to capture the marked point.
I set the chamber temperature to 40C, waited a few minutes, then turned off the internal heater when it was around 37C. I reran the calibration and it passed on the first try.
I recommend:
- This calibration test be updated to include a chamber temperature check at the beginning
- The error message should be updated to be more useful

Aint the internet great at times… why can’t it always be like this online… happy it worked!
Same situation for me. Very finnicky setup process, even with chamber heat it failed multiple times. In fact, it failed when it thought the chamber was too hot. I rubbed the thermal paper with a sleeve, heated the chamber, had it fail because it didn’t like the temperature, hit the “retry” button, and it finally worked. It’s very clear when it will work, the dot on the thermal paper fades far too quickly. With the right heat combination, you can see it stick around a lot longer, and the camera is happy with what it sees nearly instantly. If you see it stick around looking at it for any more than about a second or two, the process is guaranteed to fail and you’ll have to try again.
Bambu folks, this is a very un-Bambu Lab experience. Please update the firmware so that this process doesn’t fail constantly. With the right temperature settings, it can definitely pass.
*It’s clear when it won’t work because the dot fades quickly. If you see it stick around, and the camera moves on quickly to the next step, it’ll pass.
I’ve had my H2C unboxed for 3 days and have had two sessions of dealing with this error. The printer has literally completed a benchy and set of silica holders for the ams. Had to move it so was running all the calibrations again and now I can’t passed this.
Can anybody tell me what this step actually does? The finicky nature of this dot on thermal paper is getting frustrating. This is a brand new machine, completely clean in a consistently 68 degree room and I can’t find the right mix of suggestions here to get past this. Cmon Bambu.

My ambient is 17C. The wiki faq recommends between 10 and 30.
About to do 40C bed heat for 5 mins again ….
The curious thing (to me) is that I notice that as I stand stare at it (a time-honoured solution!) the LCD screen actually ticks the camera box and moves to the next step before the error message and attending claxon.
So after multiple tries with different settings. The one that worked was when I set the bed to 40c and the chamber to 40c. Let it stay there for about 2 minutes and then reran the calibration.
