My H2C when not being used (and the three fans are off) is making a slight background hum, kind of like a fishtank. Can anyone explain what this is and if I can turn it off?
It’s power supply noise.
Unfortunately the only solution to turning off the noise is turning off the printer.
Longshot question - do you have any kind of UPS or power conditioner between the printer and wall outlet?
i have a surge protector between the printer and wall. but the hum is coming from the printer itself.
If you take the surge protector out (just for a test), is the hum still there?
What I was wondering was if something might be affecting the waveform to where the coils in the power supply could “sing”. The noise would still come from the printer but the cause could be outside the printer.
But a longshot. I’d guess the noise will be there with and without the power conditioner but was worth asking. A UPS might be more likely to be the culprit (if there is a culprit) but maybe there’s some issue with the power conditioner?
I believe this is coming from the Vortex servo motor trying to maintain position. If you wait for a little longer the hum will go away. I assume this happens right after to finish a print and the unit is idle. Leave idle and comeback after around 30 min and I believe the sound will go away once the printer turn off the servos.
