H2C Polymaker ASA Adhesion Problem

Hello!! I’m using H2C. I modeled a car part and printed it with ASA, but unfortunately, despite all my efforts, I’m having trouble with the layers not sticking together. I used Polymaker ASA for this and dried it at 65 degrees for 8 hours. My print speed is 30-40 mm/s, room temperature is 65 degrees, print bed temperature is 100 degrees, and nozzle temperature is 270 degrees. Unfortunately, there are no preset settings for the Polymaker brand in Bambu Studio; a BLB customer representative said that H2C is no longer supported either. So I’m printing with Generic ASA settings.


Edit: I printed with the same settings on an X1C printer and encountered no problems. What could be the reason? On the X1C, the room temperature was 50-53 degrees throughout the entire print. As far as I know, ASA filament loves heat, and room temperature is very important for layer adhesion. Information suggests the recommended temperature should be 65 degrees. Why would the H2C cause problems with this type of print? The print I got with the H2C was quite fragile and broke easily, but the X1C produced a very solid model.

did you have any fan active during the print on the H2C ?

Yes, all the fans were off. Moreover, I noticed that the partial cooling fan on the X1C was left at 60% at the end of the print, yet my model was printed without any problems.

Generic ASA settings should work just fine. I’ve been printing different brands of ASA on my H2C without issue. Prints beautifully, actually. The part fan will run for overhangs, let it. The chamber heater will run along with the fan, to hold the chamber temp at 60C. The external vent should be closed.

Try a different nozzle, maybe the one you’re using is defective and it’s not getting as hot as it says. Or the nozzle has been incompletely purged and there’s some other plastic that doesn’t stick to ASA that’s contaminating the extrusion so the layers don’t stick to each other.

Try a different high temp plastic to confirm it’s not the filament that’s contaminated, like nylon. If the nozzle is no good for ASA, it’ll be no good for any other plastic that runs at a similar temperature.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I’m using the left nozzle on my H2C printer. There’s probably a malfunction in the extruder head, or perhaps a new update is needed, as I’m experiencing clogging issues with the other right nozzles. The H2C printer can’t eject the nozzle residue from previous prints in the right nozzles, and I have to constantly clean them. I’ve contacted technical support, but haven’t received a response yet. In the meantime, the left nozzle hasn’t clogged at all so far.

I have the bed temperature +5 higher on the H2 than I had on the X1 and P1, becuase the heater isn’t quite so even when dealing with a bed of this size. Before that I had a lot of adhesion problems.

Was the problem you experienced a filament adhesion issue to the print bed, or an adhesion problem between the layers?

To the bed. You are correct that the bed temperature won;t affect layer adhesion much, and I agree that you may have a nozzle/extruder clog of some type,
