H2C slowing down during print/nozzle change

I’m towards the end of a long print on my H2C, its first big workout. Its 3 day print, it has about a day left but the printer is acting weird. When it does a nozzle swap, It will switch it out, move to the priming tower and stop for about a minute. It won’t load filament or heat the nozzle (past 215 that is). After a minute, it will load filament and heat per normal and resume printing. This has increased my nozzle swap times by almost double what it was when I started the print. Any ideas why its doing this? There are no errors on the printer, other than chamber temp too high (40c). Its hot in FL, so the chamber doesn’t cool to well even with the door open.

I have a couple theories that I need to check in Studio.

What version of studio are you Running?

Which hotends?

What’s your print layer height set to, and what layer are you on now?

Running 2.7.1.57. Its the Vortek .4 nozzles, layer height is .2.

What material?

Also, I don’t need to know exactly what you’re printing, but are the layers generally trending towards smaller sectional area as the point gets taller? ie, pyramid-shaped

PETG. New issue now though. Failure to pull filament from extruder. I can run filament from the AMS to the extruder, and have broken down the extruder, no clogs. Ticket opened with Bambu.

Seems to be fixed now. I power cycled the H2C and its printing again. We will see about the print speed.

I think it’s pretty likely the printer is doing exactly what it’s meant to do.

If you check your printer profile, in the Machine gcode tab, scroll down to the “change filament gcode” section. There is extensive code here, including logic to cool the nozzle from the flush temperature before doing the tower purge.

When this happens again, look at the nozzle temperatures, I bet it always starts going again at exactly the same temperature.

That is what I though at first as well, but its hitting 215 and holding there for no reason before heating to print temp. Its odd. Hasn’t done it since the “jam” and the power cycle.

Happening again. It changes print head, heats to 210, then just sits there for a while. Power cycling fixes it but not sure whats causing it. I wonder if its a RAM issue. Printer has been on and printing for 3 days before it occurred again. Really odd.

It did it again. I timed it, its a 3 minute pause. Took a SS.

Any ideas?

Though it was the chamber temp, but no it started back up this time at 42* after pausing. It is waiting to load the next filament color after it hits 215*.

I think I got it figured out. Hopefully it helps someone down the road. I had the AMS heaters running. It limited one to 50*c (the one the first filament came out of) and let me set the second to 65c. When it would swap from AMS A to AMS B it would pause until the temperature dropped before it would dispense the next filament. I was printing in PETG, but I guess it was worried about the softening temp. I turned off the heaters and it stopped pausing for so long and went back to a reasonable filament change time.

New that’s very interesting…I’ll go back and read through the filament change code again, I definitely didn’t notice anything mentioning the AMS temperature before.

Thanks for the update!

Hope my theory is correct, but it’s resolved my issue either way. I have not tried drying at 50c on both to see if it comes back.
