I’ve been using my H2C for about 60 hours now. Recently, I’ve noticed a very annoying squeaking sound, but it only happens under a very specific condition: when the toolhead moves diagonally towards the back-right corner.
Direction: Only occurs when moving diagonally to the back-right.
Other movements: Moving left, forward, or diagonally to any other corner is perfectly silent.
Print Quality: The print results are still perfect. No artifacts, no layers shifts, and no visible issues.
History: The sound was definitely not there during the first 10–15 hours of printing.
It’s a high-pitched squeak that sounds like metal-on-metal or a dry bearing. Since it only happens in one specific diagonal direction, I suspect it might be related to one specific motor or a certain pulley/idler that is only under load during that movement.
My questions:
Has anyone experienced this specific “one-direction-only” squeak?
Is this considered “normal” after the initial break-in period?
Which specific part should I lubricate first? (I don’t want to over-grease everything if it’s a known issue with a specific pulley).
Should I be worried that something might break?
I’ve already checked the belts for visible wear, but they look fine. Any tips on where to look or what to oil would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the suggestion! I took a closer look, and the sound definitely seems to be coming from the back-left corner where the motor is located.
Unfortunately, I’m not quite sure how to get good access to the pulleys/rollers in that specific area to inspect them more closely or lubricate them. I’ve recorded a new video where I moved the toolhead manually (diagonally toward the back-right). To my eye, everything looks like it’s in order, but you can clearly hear the squeaking originating from that corner.
yeah it does look aligned, might be an issue with the motor, i’d open a support ticket, include already all those videos and they’ll be able to help determine what’s going on, and if they need to send any replacement parts for you
Check the shear bearing… Put your finger on the end of the stepper shaft and see if you feel the bearing grinding. If you don’t already know it’s the part below the toothed gear on the stepper.

In case there is dirt on the pulleys the printer usually makes different strange noises while it moves in a specific direction or area. How fast this dirt will build up may depend on which materials are printed.
I usually turn the printer off and move around the toolhead manually while looking at each pulley which can be seen. If I see any dirt on it I try to remove it using a towel. Just push against the pulley with the towel and move a round the toolhead with your other hand.
Make sure not only to check the pulleys in the corner you think the noise comes from, I already had the case that I cleaned a pulley on the other side of the printer and the noise was gone.
It’s only a very short move, but I in this video this noise can be heard while the move from the right to the front support at time 0:10.
I hae been having this problem and it was very annoying.
Found a post on another site that helped me. I used a boroscope like he recommended and found that the zip tie used was not trimmed properly and was rubbing the belt. I popped that corner and fixed the zip tie. I could see light shavings from my belt due to the friction.

I’m not positive about this but my H/D started squeaking twice and each time it was right before a lead screw nut fully failed. Not 100% if it’s a correlation but I’m thinking that was the sound of the brass nut being worn away.
Maybe check the amt of play in your heat bed to see if it’s getting loose. Not sure if any other way to know if the nut is on the verge of letting go
