H2C/Upgrade Kit Final Breakdown and Cost Predication

I used Bambu’s original pricing for these parts when not on sale and put this into ChatGPT to make it easier to understand. This post mostly covers the upgrade kit, but speculation on the H2C cost as well.

:brain: Bambu Lab H2D → H2C Upgrade Kit: Full Cost Breakdown & Logical Price Prediction

There’s been a ton of speculation about the upcoming Bambu Lab H2C and what the H2D → H2C upgrade kit might cost — especially with the rumored Vortex System and dual extrusion setup.

So, I broke everything down numerically, part by part, to estimate what we might actually be looking at when the upgrade drops — using the P1P → P1S transition as a pricing baseline.

:nut_and_bolt: Component Breakdown & Estimated Pricing

Component Description Estimated Cost Notes
Dual Extruder Unit Likely includes full dual-feed hardware and toolhead assembly $180 ± $40 (Range: $140–$220) Could be a complete replacement or add-on system
H2C Nameplate/Branding Cosmetic or minor hardware update $15 Typical of Bambu’s smaller cosmetic parts
Heatbed Possibly smaller or higher-temp version of H2D’s bed $159 (could be lower) Estimated from current market pricing
Side Panel (Left) New enclosure panel variant $65 No ports — purely enclosure and design update
Side Panel (Right) Matching enclosure panel $70 Also enclosure only — no port integrations
Vortex System Advanced dual hotend or hybrid extrusion system $399 Expected to be the major component in the upgrade
Nozzles (x3) Speculative add-on ~$39.99 each → $119.97 Purely speculative — based on typical premium nozzle pricing
Vortex + 3 Hotends Bundle Possible full assembly package ~$500 Hypothetical bundle estimate for simplicity

:money_bag: Pricing Scenarios

:one: Minimal Setup (No Extra Nozzles)

Dual ($180) + Name ($15) + Heatbed ($159) + Panels ($65+$70) + Vortex ($399)
= $888 total

:two: Full Nozzle Package

Baseline + 3 nozzles ($119.97)
= $1,007.97 (~$999 rounded)

:three: Bundled System

Vortex + 3 hotends bundle ($500) replaces individual parts
= $989 total

:white_check_mark: This aligns perfectly with the commonly cited $989–$999 prediction.

:four: Low-End Estimate

If you assume:

  • Dual Extruder ($140 low-end)

  • Heatbed ($129 lower version)

  • Vortex ($399)

Total = $818, rounded down to ≈ $799 possible low-end pricing.

:bar_chart: Mean, Median & Mode Estimates

Category Low Median High Mean (Average)
Dual Extruder Unit $140 $180 $220 $180
Heatbed $129 $159 $159 $149
Side Panels (pair) $135 $135 $135 $135
Vortex System (Base) $399 $399 $399 $399
Nozzles (x3) $0 $119.97 $119.97 $79.98 (speculative)
Nameplate $15 $15 $15 $15
TOTAL RANGE $799 $989 $1,008 ≈ $932 average

Mode: $989 (most repeated prediction)
Median: $989 (center between $799 and ~$1008)
Mean: ≈ $932 (average of all scenarios)

:puzzle_piece: Comparison to P1P → P1S Pricing

Model Base Price Upgrade Kit Combined Increase %
P1P $699 $199 $898 (~$900) +28.4%
H2D (Base) $2,000 ? ? ?

If the H2C follows the same ~28% upgrade model:

  • $2,000 × 1.28 = $2,560 total

  • Meaning the upgrade kit would likely land near $560, which fits neatly between $500–$750.

:balance_scale: Logical Pricing Summary

  • H2D Base: $2,000

  • H2C Factory: $2,500 (median assumption)

To ensure that H2D + upgrade costs more than a factory H2C (which is almost always Bambu’s pricing strategy):

2000 + upgrade > 2500 → upgrade > $500

So, if the H2C factory model retails around $2,500, the upgrade kit logically can’t be cheaper than $500, or it would undercut new-unit sales.

A fair range for the kit:

$500–$999, with $750 as the most balanced midpoint.

:chart_increasing: Final Thoughts

  • A $989–$999 kit total matches the full-part breakdown and makes sense if the kit includes the Vortex System plus enclosure panels and dual extrusion hardware.

  • A $799–$899 kit would mirror the P1P→P1S upgrade logic — attractive to H2D owners but still leaving the factory H2C as the more premium buy.

  • Realistically, $500–$750 for the kit makes the most business and pricing sense, depending on whether Vortex and nozzles are bundled.

:abacus: TL;DR Summary

Scenario Total Cost Notes
Low-End $799 Minimal setup, low-range parts
Median $989 Balanced, includes Vortex bundle
High-End $1,008 Individual components + nozzles
Logical Upgrade Kit Range $500–$750 Keeps H2C factory model more appealing
Mean Estimate $932 Statistical midpoint

:brain: In Short:

If the H2C costs $2,500, and the H2D base is $2,000,
then the cheapest the upgrade kit can reasonably be is $500 —
keeping the H2C factory model slightly cheaper than upgrading.

Note- Complete speculation but these are the most accurate figures according to Bambu’s pricing

Nice idea, but what’s the point?

Bambu will probably present the H2C on December 6th, possibly simultaneously or later with an upgrade kit for the H2D and H2S, and then the prices will be announced.

Whether one is willing to invest the money and effort to modify their H2D/H2S is a personal decision – I won’t be doing it. Vortek is completely uninteresting to me and not a true tool-changer solution, but just an attempt to release something along those lines.

I doubt Bambu releases it in December, I like Bambu but their stock management and shipping times can be pretty long during the holidays. We either see a release at Formnext next Tuesday, or we get teasers droppped each day leading up to the 25th from Formnext.

@3D_Prints, I guess you are working for Bambu’s viral marketing department? :grimacing:

Introducing a device and delivering it are two different things – Apple always unveils its devices, and you can’t even order them until a week or two later, and then you have a delivery time of several weeks.

As a YouTuber here recently put it nicely – “After Vortek’s unveiling, quite a few people are going to be rubbing their eyes in disbelief.”

How many heads in total? Thought it was going to be 5 heads, but you only post 3?

6 nozzles in total, but I think the standerd Vortex will come with 3. Of course with the ability to add on nozzles if need be.

Which is why it would be best for Bambu to release it before December IF they want to capatlize on Christmas sales. If not its likely to be out in December, by the end of the year.

I for one want to know all the specs on it and what a upgrade kit for the H2D will cost.

This was just posted, obviously the price is wrong probably were not allowed to disclose it, so they put the 999 price instead.

I wonder if they will just drop the H2C at Formnext, maybe they consider the teaser video to be the teaser?

I think they will let us know a day or two ahead of time at the minimum through social media.

The minimum amount of time between a teaser and a release has been for the P2S, 5 days. Things can change though!

Actually they ment to say h2S as that is what the image is and that is how much it costs in pounds i believe

Yes Im aware thats the price of the H2S and a photo of one. As I said its possible its meant to be the H2C but they could not publish the price or photo due to NDA, time will tell. Hard to imagine a 3D printer community person would make that kind of mistake in promo graphics and text. They could not advertise “H2C” as a reward and then go back on it. If it was a mistake it would have been fixed shortly after posting.

I guess I was wrong

Whats mad is that they haven’t corrected the pricing despite confirming that they meant H2C?!

Imagine that this would be the price for the H2C :joy:
But maybe you have to pay 999 pounds for it even if you win, just a reduced price for the winners?? :joy:

They legally can not, it is an NDA agreement, if they released the price and it was $1000 they legally violeted their NDA agreement and could be punished legally for it. The $999 is simply just a place holder until Bambu themselves release the price.

Just seems daft to have it on there at all in that case, place holder or not. Id rather it not on be there rather than a random price
