I have a H2C standard combo coming this week. I have an AMS 1 from my P1s and also bought an HT. I was thinking I would connect the 2 AMS to the right nozzle and use the HT on the left nozzle. Does that make sense?
I plan on buying a P2s combo in the near future. Once I get that, I plan on having the two AMS Pros on the right nozzle, AMS 1 on the left nozzle, and the HT for the P2s. Does that make sense?
I have over 4k hours on my P1s which is 1.25 years old, my first 3D printer. I’m excited to get the H2C as I like printing multicolor prints a lot. Since an AMS Pro by itself is $300, I figured getting a P2s for $799 made sense, given I could then sell my P1s (maybe $200?)…I was also able to get the H2C from Best Buy, saving on shipping and using their credit card to get $240 back…
Funny, I was also looking at the P2S as a way to get a printer as a bonus with another AMS… lol. The only problem with that is I’d still want an AMS for the P2!
Personally I like the AMS2 just as a storage device if nothing else, with 4 filaments ready to go, even w/out the multi-material capabilities. Like having 6 nozzle choices in the induction rack, even if I’m just using one at a time… it’s sweet. Is that enough of a reason to buy one (or dedicate one to a single-nozzle printer)? Depend$.
I got the H2C in early Dec. and love it (my first printer). My only, relatively mild, regret is buying the AMS HT. I thought I’d use it for high-temp drying, but it’s kinda junk for that and I ended up buying another dryer anyway (Pi x4). After a drying (sorta) a few spools in it, the exhaust valve died… they sent a replacement but once I opened it up I realized I didn’t want to ever bake anything in it again. Don’t use either AMS for drying at all now. So the HT is basically a fancy dry box… and kinda overpriced for that IMHO (already made a bunch of my own for TPU/etc anyway). I would rather have gotten a 2nd AMS2, even at ~2x the price (and back then they were still available IIRC).
Anyway, that’s my 2¢, FWIW. Ultimately this isn’t rally a cheap hobby, at least at the H2C level of investment, so a couple hundred here and there… meh. The freakin’ induction nozzles alone add up pretty darn quick!
I have an H2D with 2 x AMS2 and a HT. Also have an X1C with 2 AMS. On occasions I use the older AMS on the H2D without any problems (other than the hassle of changing the PTFE tubes over). Handy to have a couple of 4 to 1 adaptors on hand Bambu 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter | Bambu Lab US Store

Did I hear correctly that Bambu is coming out with a HUB this year that will allow you to use any AMS with any printer? Any idea on timelines and price? This would be ideal…I plan on using the P2s primarily for single color models but it would be nice to have some flexibility…
Having the HT for the left nozzle is the best setup imo. You will be changing filaments all the time between the left and right nozzle so having to load manually on the left nozzle is a pain in the ■■■. You could also place a Ams 2 Pro on the left nozzle, but you’ll still need to switch filaments often between the AMS’es so I prefer the HT since it’s more compact and I use it to dry my ABS-GF/CF filaments as well.
Thank you everyone for your replies. I got the printer yesterday, so excited. FedEx and/or Best Buy mangled the box…I was a little worried but printer was fine. Time to clean and setup the workbench up for two printers now. I printed that model where you use the drawer slides, should be good to eventually stack 3 of the AMS and HT slaved to the new P2s I get eventually I think…
Personally i think if you are already so deep into the system get a second HT. put 1 HT on each side (nice for 2 color/material prints) and the ams2’s on the vortek side.
