H2D Air Filtration Upgrade

Surface area is not just frontal. Do you have a picture of you holding the ones youre using? I wasnt trying to argue every damn time I make a post, just posted what I personally use. I understand youre already attached to your filter choice. But like you not trusting cheap ali filters, I dont trust $35 filters that probably came from the same factory and look like they belong in a barbie set

“Yes, filter surface area significantly affects air filter effectiveness. A larger surface area generally allows for more efficient filtration and can reduce airflow resistance. This means a filter with more surface area can capture more particles and maintain better airflow than a filter with a smaller surface area, especially when dealing with higher MERV ratings.
Here’s why:
Increased particle capture:
More surface area provides more space for contaminants to be trapped, leading to better filtration, according to HVAC.com.
Reduced airflow resistance:
Air can flow more easily through a larger surface area, minimizing the pressure drop and preventing the filter from becoming a bottleneck in the system.
Longer filter lifespan:
By distributing the dirt load over a larger area, the filter can capture more particles before becoming clogged, potentially extending its lifespan, says Hypo Air.
Improved efficiency with higher MERV ratings:
Higher MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) filters often have more pleats to increase surface area. This allows them to capture smaller particles without severely restricting airflow, says Reddit.”

Just so you know, pleats are the folds in the filter that add to surface area.

Its also weird to only be counting a single pass when it exchanges the whole rooms air in a few minutes.

Even if your tiny filter somehow helps more on a single pass(it doesnt) its also going to clog up extremely fast causing its affectiveness to plummet. I didnt want something thats only for show
