H2D Air Filtration Upgrade

Buy a “switch” that monitors current.
Setting it at a current draw when printer is active turns on your fan.

Is that you own addon filter or something else?

Yes my own as it has the honeycomb internal structure for optimal airflow. I have only seen the exhaust go to 50% automatically, never higher and most times it stays at the default lower setting.

Thanks, I have printed the full length one that someone else linked on this thread with HEPA filters but I’ve seen a huge increase in the time taken for the chamber to heat up.

I think its hard to beat the OEM filter as it was designed for proper airflow. I only made a refillable replacement as the OEM filter was out of stock on the webshop for a long time. Now that it is in stock (and I have also tested the aftermarket H13 and found it subpar) I will only use the OEM filter together with my add on filter for PLA/PETG.

This approach introduces other issues. I don’t need the external system running while printing ASA, but I do need to evacuate the chamber once the print has finished. Running the Smoke Purifier during the print isn’t an option, as it pulls out the heat—even at the lowest speed, the chamber won’t reach 60 °C.

Listening to MQTT is a more reliable solution than relying on the system’s power draw. The print is either running, has encountered a problem, or is completed—nothing in between.
