H2D and extension leads

I’m in the UK so 220-240v. My H2D is on a rack and I have to use an extension lead to allow me to plug it in (I wish the supplied lead was longer).

I’ve had issues when powering the printer on. The fans will go 100% and the temps all report 0. If I disconnect the AMS2 it will start fine. I recently added a spare AMS to the left nozzle and this extra load. The AMS powers on but won’t feed from the 2nd stage. I believe the printer isn’t receiving enough power and that’s the cause of the issues. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Got mine on an extension lead and a Tapo smart plug too - no issues around 300 hours of printing now.

Printer can only power 1 AMS from its internal supply - I’ve got an AMS 2 and the HT but need to power the HT from a separate socket. (which is powered from the same extension).

In theory all extension leads in the UK should be able to supply the plug fuse rated value of 13A - ie 3000w.

Couple of things will impact that - length of the lead increases wire resistance, resulting in heat losses which reduces the current etc. If its a extension lead on a drum/wound then unwind it fully but all of this is just likely to lead to overheating and the associated circuit breaker tripping.

This is not true. The h2D can power multiple AMS without issue. The wall outlet is specifically for the drying function (HT needs the wall outlet regardless for drying, if using multiple ams 2, only 1 can dry at a time if no wall outlet is used).

Maybe you can check if live pin and earth pin are switched in the extension lead. Then it would be best to change that in the plug.

Thank you all. I’ve changed to a different socket and extension lead. Things seem better. I was using a longer wound one so maybe the resistance was too high through that. I’m running an AMS2 pro and original AMS with it. If I get another AMS 2 pro then I know I’ll need an extra power supply for it
