Hey guys
First I want to preface this with the disclaimer that I am BRAND NEW to 3d printers and the 3d printing world.
I purchased a H2D AMS2 Combo, I got it home, and it calibrated successfully, I then printed a successful benchy as the first test and print and since then, I have been unable to do ANYTHING. I keep getting an error message that the extruder head wont swap. I removed both heads one by one the extruder on the right side had a small stub of filament in it. (it printed the benchy with the other head btw) I replaced the rt head to see if that was the issue.
When facing the printer looking into it the left extruder will lower, and raise the right stays fixed. It is my understanding they both move up and down. I will no longer home, it will no longer do anything except give me the swap error.
The pigtail of filament sticking out from the nozzle is quite normal and you can ignore it. That’s just from the point where the filament is cut by the filament cutter.
Only the left moves up or down. The right one remains fixed. Not sure, without an image of the print head it’s hard to diagnose but it’s possible one or more nozzles are not correctly seated. Power cycle the printer, remove the nozzles and reseat them carefully.
Hey hyiger, first thanks for offering to help and your input. Here are a couple picture of the hot ends. Removed the “covers” so you could see. I’m not sure I should take apart the toolhead just yet, I received it 2 days ago put it up and together yesterday … not sure Im supposed to tear into the head quite yet. I will remove both heads and retry them again.
In addition when I get into the software on my pc and tell it to swap heads the gantry jumps forward and back fast several times and then I get “Extruder change failed; Refer to the assistant [07FF-8020-113001]
In both cases it behaves the same way. And I removed and reinserted the hot ends prior to the picture, I wanted you to have that pic vs any I had taken before. I am pretty frustrated honestly. This was supposed to be an option that was easy to get up and running
Again, Thank you very much for your time and your help.
lol yeah removing the packing is a rather extensive experience.
Hey I want to thank you both for taking the time to offer your help. I purchased it through best buy and I have their membership plan and I just returned it, exchanged it. I have a new one coming and it will be here in a few days.
The H2D is a reliable printer so you didn’t make a bad choice. But then occasionally there are issues like this.
I’ve had mine for 4 months now and the only issue I had was ignoring the maintenance schedule and having a subsequent issue the bed motion. The fix was to “stop ignoring the maintenance schedule”, i.e. clean and relubricate the rods. Kind of like when you ignore the check engine light (back in the day) and then 6 months later have to call a tow truck.
