It seems like Bambu is also investigating if we can use the filter:
Please note that if an external filtration option is used, like the Smoke Purifier, the chamber temperature can raise high enough that it can lead to clogs due to heat creep (in the extruder or the hotend).
Our team is investigating the idea of using the included filter for PLA, but if it will be implemented, the exhaust fan will probably need to be used at the highest speed to prevent such heat creep issue.
We are still testing to ensure it is a viable solution.

I have this installed in mine, although I have changed the design up a bit with a screen instead of the slats.
It pretty much eliminated the PLA smell coming out of the back of the printer and it does not hinder chamber cooling at all. The key to making it work is to make sure the cells are only filled 1/2 to 3/4 full so that air can still pass through easily.
