We usually turn the printer on on Monday and it stays on until Friday afternoon, sometimes it doesn’t get shut off for a few weeks at a time.
I noticed a few weeks ago it would give me the “USB drive is not formatted or cannot be written” error. Unplugging it and plugging it back in fixed it and it had zero issues sending prints to the USB and printing from the USB.
However yesterday it wouldn’t go away no matter what. I put the USB in my PC and it said there were errors and asked to fix the drive do I did. It opened and everything showed up in the drive as normal. Put it back in the printer and still the same error.
Shut the printer off for the day, turned it on again this morning and same error and now It won’t show up in my PC at all except for “No Media” showing up under “D:” in Disk Management.
Do you think the USB itself just died on its own or that the printer had something to do with it? Of course they’re out of stock but I’m going to have my boss see if they’ll warranty it or just refund him.
At least we can use the on-board storage on the H2D now - does anyone know how much there actually is available?
Edit - I plugged it into a different USB port on my PC and it opened right up and has everything in it, no repair drive messages. Disk management says it’s healthy, 58.2GB. Right click - eject Insert into printer - same errors.
Hey strange i’ve encountered exactly the same thing with a verbtim USB key : Verbatim Clés USB 98711 Nano 64 Go USB 3.0.
Sometimes It was going on for a couple of days / hours or minutes and after become innacessible. Working fine on my computer.
but maybe after a week it becomes totally dead . no more detection on the computer ??? thank’s the amazon policy i asked for a refund with no problems
After some test with bambu they send me a new USB board .
I have switched to : PNY 256GB Duo Link USB 3.2 Type-C Dual Flash Drive and no more problemes since 4 month
i had some similar trouble with the H2D back at its release. First drive i attempted (samsung fit), did not work with the printer at all. Now been using a mini-sized lexar jumpdrive s47 for a year now without issues.
It’s definitely the drive - now it’s showing up on my PC but when I try to open it it says “please insert a disk into USB Drive (D:). I tried another USB drive in the H2D and it shows up and works fine. So the drive is definitely the problem - I submitted a support ticket with Verbatim
In the meantime does anyone know how much internal storage is available on the H2d?
That’s not going to get you much in the way of technical support. Consumer grade USB sticks are “throwaway” technology, the floppy disk of the modern age. They won’t care why it failed, or do anything to try and fix the problem. They’ll just send you a replacement.
Some USB sticks just aren’t great. I think that there is a similar issue with MicroSD cards, which might be why they switched to USB? They’re more reliable, but low quality ones still suffer from high read/write.
Unfortunately, there’s a lot of counterfeiting in the SD card/USB stick market. Packaging can be very convincing. In addition, many “discount” cards/sticks are made with older-generation flash memory, or even flash that’s been scavenged from failed devices like phones and tablets. So quality can suffer.
Your only defense is to avoid discount retailers and buy from the actual manufacturer’s storefront, or from a well established vendor (like Kingston) that has strong name-brand recognition (that they’ll want to protect by not selling low quality stuff).
There are a lot more sellers of flash sticks and cards and SSDs than there are manufacturers of flash. Samsung, Sandisk, SKHynix, Micron, KIOXIA, that’s basically it (there’s one in China, forget the name). And Samsung and Sandisk are really the only ones with a big consumer retail presence. So if what you’re buying isn’t from one of these guys, it’s kind of a crap shoot.
I’d also argue that the lower the cost/GB the more likely it is to be of questionable provenance. A '“good price” could end up being the opposite of good.
Been using the same exact one for the last year or so. Got it from Amazon. Some months ago it crapped out, but a printer restart made it come back. Now it’s doing the same thing but won’t come back, and even my Windows PC can’t recognize it. Sucks, lots of lost timelapses.
That’s exactly what happened to me. It started not showing up, then removing/re-inserting it would make it come back, then that stopped and a power cycle was required, now nothing at all.
Ugh great. So the Verbatim USB flash drives are failing.. hopefully everyone who has purchased them from Amazon is leaving a well detailed review for the product.
The form factor of that drive is ideal (as they really don’t have to stick up much). I’ve got the same drive, just purchased recently (Feb 2026)… keeping fingers crossed.
I got exactly same problem on my h2s 64 gb i cant format it on windows either it had been working so good but suddenly no media on it on windows have tried everything on youtube to fix it but noway
