H2D Maintenance – Tips & Tricks

Hi everyone, I was doing maintenance on linear bearings and polished rods as H2D requested, and I’ve been thinking for a while about replacing both the oil and grease with something better, namely these:

Has anyone used them? Can you recommend them?

Also, could you recommend some tools that you use and have tried yourself? I know there are tons of them on MakerWorld, but I’d like something tested and functional.

I’ve tried a lot of 3d printed tools. Most of them (for me at least) have not met my expectations. I did use this one for the first time this weekend during maintenance and I was impressed.

Lead Screw Cleaner - This one surprised me, how well it worked. I just put a single piece of a blue shop towel in it. I’ve never been able to clean my lead screws this well.

I do not get commission; these are just products that work well for me.

For oil and grease, I use Super Lube products.
Super Lube 51004, Synthetic Oil, High Viscosity, 4 oz Bottle, Translucent White (Packaging May Vary): Fishing Equipment: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

Amazon.com: Super Lube-21030 Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease, 3 Oz. : Super Lube: Industrial & Scientific

Also, buy a similar bottle to this for whatever oil you choose. This was a game-changer vs all the printed options. I can oil the tiniest places from any angle or orientation with these.

I use both oil and grease from Super Lube and have never used any other brand.

Maybe consider Super Lube 52004 instead of 51004?
…according to Reddit threads it’s better than 51004…
Just ordered 52004 (along with 21030) to test it out myself.
