I have now installed the Bird Eye camera and the Cutting upgrade. After installing and starting the printer, a firmware was installed. I was able to calibrate the cutter, but not the Bird Eye. As a result, I get an error message in Bambulab Suit that the calibration has not been completed. This means that I cannot use the program.
I cannot calibrate the Bird Eye on the printer because the stop button and the key are not available. I know that the firmware will soon fix the error so that non-laser owners can calibrate it.
But how can I use it now? Does the Bird Eye have to be removed again?
I have the bird’s eye cam installed on my non-laser H2D. I can complete the cutter module calibration and use the cutter/plotter. There is an error that the bird’s eye camera is not activated, but that doesn’t stop me from using the system.
If you are getting an error that the calibration is not complete and it is not letting you use the cutter module, something else is going on.
I’m fairly sure that Bambu has built a special firmware for the cutting module upgrade that doesn’t support the Birdeye cam. Otherwise, it would be included in the upgrade kit.
I reset the h2d today and recalibrated it again. However, the Bird Eye cannot be calibrated or initialized because the stop button and key are not available.
Apparently I won’t be able to solve this either as long as the firmware is not adjusted or published.
I’ll unplug it later and see if I can use the cutter without the error message.
The only question is, will it be possible to use the Bird Eye camera for the cutter for anything or not?
You can use the cutter without the camera, the only benefit of the camera is that you can put in whatever you want and take a photo. Then you can place the contour what you want on the picture. You can use the print and cut function, therefore 4 little markers are printed on the paper and the toolhead camera can check it and locate the paper. then the cutter will cut it out.
It’s been discussed multiple times already, the current firmware does not provide calibration of the BE camera except on the laser version and most of the cutting features work without it anyway. @SupportAssistant as mentioned above has stated it’s coming…
I think the biggest issue, at least in my opinion, is that BL states on the cutting module upgrade page that the BE camera is required, when in fact it is not.
Yeah I have an H2D and was interested in the cutting module, but I held off because Bambu’s site states that they are coming out with a firmware to make it and the birdseye camera work. The wording on the site makes it seem that you need both cutter, birdseye camera, and firmware, but I guess that’s not the case. Good to know!

It’s on the Cutting Upgrade Kit product page. I’m surprised it has taken them over 4 months now to add this feature. All this time I’ve not used the cutting module because I don’t find it easy to use without having a preview.
Hi, any updates on this? I really want to grab the cutter/plotter upgrade without the laser module, so I’m eagerly waiting for this feature support before buying both the cutter module and camera.
I’d buy both and just install the camera and wait. The cutter works fine without using the camera, you just get a startup error asking for calibration of the camera on each print. Just tap out and you can go on your way cutting,
Once the firmware drops there may be a run on the camera. Better to have it now than wait to get it later.
