H2D nozzel advice/purchasing HF or not

I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on a Bambu H2D. I noticed there’s a discount if you buy extra nozzles at the same time — 20% off if purchased with the printer.

A couple of questions:

  1. Nozzle quantity – For example, the 0.2 mm nozzle I want to try for the first time. Do I have to buy two, or can I just buy one? I’m assuming it’s not sold as a set, but I’d like confirmation so I don’t end up with four nozzles.

  2. High-flow nozzles – Most of what I print are big, blocky engineering prototypes, but I also want the option to make nice, detailed prints — hence the 0.2 mm interest. I’ve previously used an E3D Obsidian high-flow 0.6 mm nozzle.

Is it worth picking up a high-flow nozzle for the H2D?

I’ve seen high-flow 0.4 mm and 0.6 mm options on Ali_exp aka the Chinese website thats like temu — are they any good, or is it better to just stick with official nozzles? Historically I haven’t bought official parts, but given the high prices, I’d like some real-world feedback. Are the unofficial ones totally useless, or do they hold up fine?

For context, I was an early adopter of the X1 Carbon — in fact, I ended up buying more than one. Over time, when maintaining them or replacing parts, I noticed that the X1Cs I bought a year later had many internal parts that had been superseded and weren’t interchangeable with my original Kickstarter unit. So, while I don’t really want to be an extreme early adopter again, I accept it might still be the case with the H2D — it is what it is.

Finally, I’m in the UK. It’s August now, so I’m hoping I’m not a super early adopter this time. From monitoring stock levels, it looks like we might be on the second batch that’s landed in England, but I guess it’s still down to chance.

Any advice or real-world experience would be much appreciated. Thanks!

0.2: if you have another printer, leave it to that. There’s currently almost 0 benefit for H2D to use the 0.2mm nozzles unless you don’t have another printer.

HFs: always good to have. 0.4HF and 0.6HF both pretty solid. Don’t buy off from Aliexpress for these nozzles, they are not the same as the official HF/CHT style nozzles. Get the official ones.

Bambu CHT looks quite similar to Bondtech’s CHT design but differs from other brands’ similar items. There’s a large chamber between the nozzle tip and the CHT heater core, I don’t know if it’s really designed like this or it’s just an illustration which is not so accurate. Would be good if someone can cut it ;p

Just a heads-up: if any items go out of stock during your purchase, you’ll lose the discount on them and most likely won’t receive it retroactively.
