H2D Printing Small Items

Considering purchase of a H2D combo. Is there any validity to the claims of some that print quality on small items is subpar

Impossible to answer. Depends on the material and the size of the nozzle. By small do you mean Benchy size? Or are you talking about detail on larger print? I don’t find the print quality on mine any different than my other printers.

If your thinking about 32 mm table top mini’s, FDM are limited in their ability to achieve the level of detail your looking for. Their competition in this field are MSLA and DLP printers using resin solutions. They can get close, but once you see a side-by-side, it’s easy to see the difference between FDM’s and MSLA/DLP printers.

Beyond that, I have no experience with MSLA/DLP printers.

If you look at the Luffy diorama on mw, I printed it very successfully and I speak especially about the shark teeth on the left. The upper teeth.

Please note you have to calibrate your filaments for such purpose e.g. the lowest extrusion temperatures, andyou need to pit hands on cooling too

Uhm…
there are something like 9,168,166,638,986,341,687,434.184351658434616131685 (+/- some) Luffy’s on MW.
Can you give us a link?

I have a A1 mini, H2S & H2D and love them. The quality is the same for small models (50mm high or lower ), but is they go higher, the H2 printers are far better, and give perfect quality.
