H2D TH board replacement

Thought I’d share some experience. Long story short, I shorted out the TH board attempting to clean a massive amount of melted filament that had surrounded the extruder and the heater. It got up under the silicone boot and was so extensive I couldn’t get the extruder out, the right hand one.
Got new heater and TH board from West 3D overnight and went to work. What a challenge! I give credit to Bambu and their Wiki. Incredibly precise instructions and very helpful pictures. Hint, read the instructions three or four times. Study the pictures carefully! Put the printer on a foot-high box and get a comfortable chair the roles around, you’re going to be there for a while. Major difficulty was inability to see the entire board clearly looking through the top of the printer. You’ll need 15 different angles (roll around chair) and plenty of light. I had the printer positioned so that I could get the whole way around it. I ended up putting a mirror on the build plate so I could see the bottom of the printhead and also to reflect light up from the bottom. Don’t start until you own a 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm hex wrench on a handle like a screwdriver. I positioned the printer next to my computer so I could refer to the pictures in the Wiki on a full-size monitor. Halfway through I discovered you could blow them up. Got it done successfully, but it’s gonna take you an entire afternoon if you set it up like I have explained.
Leave it up on its normal shelf with limited access and it’s an all day job. The whole problem started when I failed to turn off the machine before trying to free the extruder. Hope this helps.

I experienced the TH board replacement once. My biggest complaint was one of the connector type was almost impossible to remove without damaging the wires. Also I broke the chain trying to remove it. To support they sent me replacements. I also broke some connectors on the TH board, but that didn’t count as I was replacing the TH board. I see Bambu finally did a whole section on their wiki on connectors.

did exactly what you did - exactly . DAMMIT

So it wasn’t just me! Lol

The nozzle camera on mine is down. I think it’s just a connector I didn’t get right, but ordered new camera just in case. Now have to work up the courage to go after the TH board again. May take a while. Other than error message, printing just fine.

Nope , ordered 3 because I’ve had an H2c down for 10 plus days . First waiting for new hot end assembly ( bought 3 ) now another week at least for the Th board.

West 3D has parts and will overnight them.

Well I’ll be check them out right now, Bambu is almost always on back order . If not - still takes a week or more
