H2D to H2C Upgrade Questions

I’ve searched for answers to my questions and didn’t find any that answers them…

My first question is, does the H2D Upgrade kit include H2C side panels? Or are the H2D panels reused for the upgrade?

Since I also own an H2S, the thoughts were that I could use the left over parts to upgrade my H2S to an H2D. Guessing that Bambu won’t allow that but I have to ask. At the very least I could swap the side panels from my H2D over to the H2S assuming they include the H2C side panels in the kit.

Yeah, I know and the Bambu Wiki Upgrade doesn’t show it either. My thinking is if I’m going to pay $799.00 for the upgrade, I’d like the whole kit. The wiki appears to show some views with the H2C panels (in Part B), hence my question.

Wondering if anyone that has ordered the upgrade can confirm. I’m kind of guessing they aren’t included…

Support said the they won’t move h2s seriel numbers over to h2d’s I believe And no the side panels aren’t included

How about upgrading the H2S instead of the H2D - then you will end up with both an H2D and H2C.

Main reason I bought the H2S was for the build size over the H2D. With that said, I haven’t decided which way I want to go and may upgrade the H2S since the build sizes isn’t that much anyway.

For some this might be a no brainer but I’ve ran into the size limitation of the H2D enough to make me think twice.

It’s what I have, H2C and H2S and I genuinely wouldn’t have it any other way. One large printer for big prints in 1 or 2 filaments and the other for more complex / intricate parts.

For me the build size of the H2S is what’s telling me to upgrade the H2D, plus the slightly smaller increase in speed is another factor. Small numbers perhaps but over time they’ll add up. Anyway, your suggestion follows my initial thinking. I appreciate your thoughts.

I have been thinking of doing this but man.. The kit price, the work needed, the tinkering…
It is far better to sell the H2D and buy a new H2C imo

And the fact all your build-plates are essentially trash as the new ones are smaller.

Or just buy an H2C and have all three. They each have their own advantages - although unlimitedly I think I would like to end up with two Vortek printers, an H2C and whatever the next Vortek model is.

Exactly! I bought 2 H2D machines, and have to lug them up and down steps to get to my office or “Lab". I build RC models, so upgrading appeals to me inherently. It wasn’t “that" bad at all to be honest. Just took a while. It’s just like everything lately, they’re out of stock, then out of stock again.. And again, and again..

And “off the cuff" everything except the AP board, someone else can use.. Technically speaking(in my case at least).. But I really am not looking at it from that standpoint

Common misconception. The left nozzle is the same volume as h2d left and right volume. The h2c right nozzle is smaller due to the gantry.

They can’t. But if you need the h2d build volume for a part you can get it on the left nozzle. I plan to rout my h2d plates to size once I finish the upgrade to see if they can be used after.

I guess the point is that if one has loads of plates then they’re wasted doing the swap, you essentially have a couple ££ of very thin paperweights. Rather than focusing on the build volume I think he’s meaning different types of plates.

For example I have 3 plates for my H2S, doing the upgrade would mean I then can’t use them.

Yea, I made the mistake of buying too many plates on an x1c. It is a bummer to have useless plates after an upgrade.

I’ll look into cutting mine down to test.

What is the single-nozzle build size difference between the H2D and H2S? I can’t figure it out.

For single nozzle prints:

H2D = 325 x 320 x 325
H2S = 340 x 320 x 340

Not a huge difference, but I have run into a few personal projects where it did make the difference between printing it in one piece vs cutting and splicing.
