H2D Uneven Heatbed - HELP, I have tried everything

I am having first layer print quality issues and I have troubleshooted for three days and STILL have no resolution.

I have done:
Manual bed tramming x2
Auto bed leveling so many times I lost count
Full calibration many times
High Temp Bed calibration many times
Flow rate and Flow dynamics calibration

I have been using the same Bambu Green PLA filament for everything

Finally, I just used a level and saw it’s quite off. I compared this to my other H2D, X2D and P2S and they are all perfectly level.

Is there ANYTHING else I can do to fix this or is the next solution to replace the heatbed completely?

I have attached a first layer print example after manual bed tramming and a picture of the level and heatbed.

The bed not being level is no indication of an issue, what matters is that the gantry is parralel to the bed and as you’ve done the bed tramming, it is. Don’t worry about it, I never checked if my bed was level, I don’t care, I could tilt the printer several degrees that it wouldn’t change anything. I bet that if you put the level on the X rail or the bottom of the printer you get the same

If you put a straight edge on its side across the bed and you can see light in the middle or on the ends, that can be an indication of a warped bed and that would be a totally different story.

Have you run a full 1st layer print rather than just the cross because I don’t see much of an issue with your cross print

Why, then, are all my other printers level and have no issues with the first layer?

What issues are you seeing in that cross print you showed as a picture? That definitely doesn’t show any issues due to a bed level as the minor imperfections (I’m assuming you are talking about) are in every single part of that example print (middle and corners).

Can you show a print from your “other perfectly leveled printers” that show no issues as a comparison?

How level is your printer compared to the bed? Pretty easy to have an uneven floor, combined with uneven desk, to make an uneven bed if your printer is also uneven.

Because there’s something else but not the fact the bed is not level, it can just be your whole printer is not level but like I said if you tilt a bit your printer, it won’t affect the print quality.

Look for something else if you experience 1st layer isdue. Print a full bed one layer and see where the issue is. Clean your plate thoroughly before you print it.

If you place your other (good) printers on a tilted surface, the bed of that printer is not level either. Does the first layer of that printer suddenly go bad also?

A level measures it relative to earths gravity. It seems you didn’t even take the time to understand the reasoning of @philch before you down voted his response.

I thought you were here to get advice.

Also I’m having this problem with the heat bed flipping the polarity of my magnets.

As others have already said, the only thing that really matters is whether it’s square to the print plane. Nothing else matters — as Metallica would say. :wink:

A completely bonkers experiment, but it proves the point rather well: orientation itself is not the issue. Alignment to the print plane is.

BTW, tramming is always the last thing you should reach for, not the first. Done at the wrong time, it can introduce new weirdness instead of fixing the original problem.

For example, tramming a printer just because it is physically sitting at an angle will very quickly give you worse results, not better ones. The printer does not care if your table has questionable life choices — it cares whether the bed, gantry, and print plane agree with each other.

A small tip: when you run into an issue, read up on what is actually causing it before treating tramming as the universal magic hammer for every print problem.

That said, back when I started 3D printing in the RepRap era, we really did have to tram the bed before every single print. So yes, I have served my time in the tramming trenches. :wink:

@JonRaymond Meh, someone already found it.

You’re making a causation vs correlation error. Your other printers aren’t having first layer issues AND they are level, but that doesn’t mean your other printers aren’t having first layer issues BECAUSE they are level.

You can prove this for yourself, put a spacer under two legs of one of your good printers so it’s way off level and try printing something, I bet the first layer will be unchanged.

As others have said, what really matters is the bed’s plane relative to the plane the print head moves in. Those two planes should be parallel, so that the distance between the nozzle and the bed is consistent, that’s it. (I’m deliberately leaving out nonflat conditions for now)

Anyhow, I suggest you post pictures of your first layer issues and go fix the downvotes you were giving out, we’re a good community and are willing to do what we can to help!

I know it might sound stupid but have you tried a new print plate?

Unfortunately if it where the print plate, the level would not sit flat on the plate. One end would be higher than the other or there would be a bow in the middle.

The off level is:

  • The table isn’t level
  • Or the printer isn’t level

But none of this would matter to the print head since it does a “bed leveling” at the beginning of the print to find out how flat the plate is and then adjusts everything before printing.

What we are seeing in the images has a different cause.

I did not mean a twisted plate , the plate will lose its sticking properties as it gets used resulting in a poor build
