H2D walks across the table

I’m having an issue when my H2d shakes as it’s printing. Basically, the printer ends up walking about 1 or 2 inches left while printing. I have my poop chute set up to dump through a hole in the table to a garbage can under the table and after the print, the chute no longer is lined up with the hole. The table is stable and doesn’t shake at all.

So my main question is this: Can I put some blocks that are screwed into the table next to the printer to keep it from walking? I would have these blocks slightly off the sides but I’m sure the printer would eventually run into them.

you better check the level of your table first, it could be unlevelled

I can’t imagine putting soft wood blocks around the base being a problem.

I would make them tall enough to form tightly framed rectangular tube so that any vibration doesn’t inadvertently make the printer tip over due to the level of vibrations you are experiencing.

I experienced something similar back when I had an A1, it walk forwards trying to jump off the desk.

I would make sure the desk is as stable as it could be before you utilise lumber as it may not be required.

Perhaps you should try replacing the standard legs with Hula legs.

I spent some time with a level and determined that the table top had a 3mm dip in it that lined up with the back corner of the printer. I made a small shim and placed it under that foot and the printer no longer walks.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I’m using modified eHULA feet from my old X1C, adapted to the H2D, and they absorb all vibrations very well.

The printer doesn’t move an inch on the cabinet.

Best practice with any of these machines, especially H2 machines:

  1. Level a suitably robust table/bench/surface where the machine will go. It needs to be reasonably stable, this is a bigger heavier machine.
  2. Confirm Level the machine itself, with a level both ways on the build plate. If for whatever reason the table is level but the machine isn’t, pucks/shims under the feet.
  3. Profit, if both leveling steps were done right you will never have issues (unless something below settles weird or it gets moved).
