It looks like the H2S has a grey a1 print head with a camera it will use the H2D nozzles, and it will be able to take advantage of the whole print area due to the print heads smaller size.
Why would you believe itās lidar? Same exact housing is for the camera on h2D , more probable to be the same module.

But itās already known, somewhat, from older āleaksā that H2S (or whatever) seems to be using A1 silicone socks, implying A1 hotends, implying also, imo, a less capable extruder gears just like A1 since A1 hotend is designed for lower max flow.
Iām thinking an A1 print head, but just super larger form factor - like Prusa XL sizeā¦

Itās the H2D system vs A1.
Personally Iāve found CF filaments experiences more frequent grinding on the A1, probably one part due to the smaller gear, one part due to H2D toolhead feed path having some curve, one part due to the AMS Liteās problematic design.
The H2D was also able to handle pressure buildup (prolonged solid surface/internal) better.
A1 hotend was fine for A1, for the most part, except fibers grinding⦠Presumably with the H2S, people will be doing high temp fiber filaments, large objects, batch printing, the H2D system really lends itself to those, plus higher max flow for faster prints.
yep. thatās an h2d sock, if you look closely, you can slightly see the indentations of the arrows that only the h2d sock has.

Theyāre going with a single gear extruder? Dang. I had issues printing dual colour filament (slight oval cross section) on the A1.
Because the a1toolhead is newer and works better. People are sick of nozzles breaking i guess. Magnetic swappable nozzles so much easier with no screws
Flow, sure, but thatās a function of the cht path and a much stronger heater. We donāt know what watts this thing is yet.
But when you say grinding, do you mean feed failure because the gears stripped the filament? So far the only issues Iāve had with the a1 nozzle specifically is that itās really sensitive to damaged socks. I think the nozzle wipe routine pulls and misaligns it if the sock is any % worn out.
If by this you meant the nozzle path design, then yeah, I was writing under the speculation if H2S uses A1 nozzles. I donāt know if someone has tested A1 nozzle max flow performance vs. stock on a H2D but apparently H2D nozzles do provide some marginal flow improvements installed on an A1 so it itself is at least a better design.
Yes it depends on many things, it was just speculation and probably false at this point if it uses H2D silicone.
Grinding:
Again, just speculative, itāll very much depends on how they design the filament path, but a bended path + bigger teeth gear should help due to contact areas.
For A1, it happened for me avg. once for every 1kg of PLA-CF, and none on H2D, from AMS lite / AMS 2 respectively, sample size 11kg.
Interesting experience, thanks. I havenāt had the extrusion gear feed failure happen as the primary failure yet but that would be a definite problem. (if you do stupid things like force Z onto the bed, the gears will grind away the filament, but like, garbage in garbage out lol ask me how I know) The closest to brittle I shove thru my A1ās though is PETG-CF and that is still fairly pliable. Iāve had the gear strip occur on another printer with ABS-GF⦠it also reamed out the slightly-too-tight PTFE after just ONE print lol

Itās kind of weird that Bambu says PLA-CF is approved for the AMS Lite when literally every other Bambu filament type containing CF says āAMS Lite NOT compatibleā. Maybe Bambu should put a note on the PLA-CF page saying āAMS Lite kinda sorta mostly compatibleā?
Agreed. I have the H2D, X1C, and A1 Mini. I really dislike the X1C nozzle swap method and love how easy the H2D/A1ās nozzles are to change out.
I would like to get this printer head for my X1C. But I donāt think that bambu lab will make a upgrade package like this ![]()
