I have a new H2S with an AMS Pro. I have only done a couple prints on it due to another issue I had which I solved. Today I got a “hotend or extruder clogged” warning using my AMS. I know neither are clogged but, just to be sure I switched out the hotend for a brand new one and still got the warning. I then switched to the external port on the back instead of the AMS and I was able to successfully load filament so I know neither the hotend or extruder are clogged. I read in few places to shorten the ptfe tube going from the AMS to the port on the back of the H2S as the extruder on the H2S doesn’t like longer tubes. I did that as well and I am still getting the “hotend or extruder clogged warning” and I can’t print anything using the AMS. Does anyone have a solution to this issue?
How far does it get the filament when it’s loading from the AMS? Does it pass the buffer properly?
It is very important that the PTFE tube from the AMS is fully pushed into the buffer.
There might also be a tiny bit of filament stuck in the buffer.
You can also try to detach the PTFE tube from the AMS and manually push filament all the way up to the tool head. This should help to determine that the filament path is clear.
Thanks for the reply! The filament goes all the way to the extruder and then reverses hastily to the spool in the AMS. Yes, it passes the buffer cleanly and I can see the ptfe tube in the little “window” right before the buffer, so it is seated properly. I took all the ptfe tubes out that had anything to do with supplying filament from the AMS to the extruder and cleaned them as well as the area that they are pushed in to.
I did not try your last suggestion, at least not exactly. I did feed filament through the external port in theback, bypassing the AMS. I then clicked “Load” and the H2S loaded the filament properly and extruded it. Now I know the extruder is not clogged, and, like I wrote above, I swapped out a brand new nozzle to elemenate the possibility of that being clogged.
Ironically, after I feed filament through the external port in the back, the AMS started loading filament properly…this is one finicky machine!
Can you recommend anything to prevent this happening again in the future? There are tons of posts on the internet about this new AMS 2 Pro having a weak extruder motor that overloads quickly or over-sensitive extruder sensor that throw the “hey, I’m clogged warning” erroneously.
Looking forward to hearing if you, or anyone, has any suggestions for this flaw.
Unfortunately I can only recommend to check if your PTFE tube from AMS is having smooth bends. The additional resistance might cause issues. Besides that, if this happens again, I would create a ticket at support. If there is no physical reason like a blocked filament path, etc. You have a hardware issue.
I recently got this on a H2D, checked everything i could think of. In the end it was my user error that cost me a new build plate in the process.
Try taking out the nozzle and giving the place where the nozzle sits a good clean to make sure nothing is stopping it from sitting correctly. If it’s off it won’t feed correctly.
I had swapped nozzles and the nozzle was not seated. This not only caused the height calibration to be off, causing the nozzle to dig into the PEI surface, but after the clean-up gave me that error.
Finally sat one in well did the whole calibration process again and everything is now working.

Ya, that had crossed my mind actually. I just switched out the stock 0.4 nozzle this morning for a 0.6 nozzle and I noticed a very slight “wiggle” when I grabbed it. I undid the clips and cut off the piece of filament that was still in top of the nozzle hoping it would seat better. It did. Thank you for that advise!
