Hi, I have searched around on the forums and have seen similar issues, but so far none of the solutions have worked for me. I wanted to get some input.
I got my printer about a week ago and it has been working flawlessly out of the box, with the AMS lite as well.
Yesterday I had some issues and seemed like there was a clog. I was able to clear it out, but my prints mostly fail ever since then. There can be mixed results, some have looked fine, some mostly work, some are complete disasters.
What I don’t think it is/have tried:
Dry filament/the filament (I have used all of these filaments for successful prints previously. As a matter of fact did a beautiful ~10h print with the white just before the clog)
The print (these have all been done in the past successfully.)
Flow calibration (did a calibration and the results are inconsistent/none look correct)
I have tried tightening up the screws in and around the hotend, nothing seemed loose.
I monitored the print, it’s not pausing or stopping at all. According to the sensors all temps are correct and consistent.
What I haven’t tried:
Externally checking the temps are consistent. (Do not have an infrared thermometer. But picking one up later today.)
Taking the hotend apart completely and checking and reconstructing everything (could do, but would rather not if I don’t have to)
I do feel the clog was pretty thoroughly removed, but maybe needs a deeper cleaning I’m unaware of.
Change nozzles. (I do not have another nozzle to try.)
To check your nozzle manually set the temp to 250, once it heats manually extrude some filament using the controls on the printer. Does it come straight out and down or does it curl? If it curls you likely have a clog in there still, might want to try a cold pull (see wiki).
Make sure the filament path is clear of obstruction and tight turns and moves freely through the PTFE tubes. Because in your flow test as the flow goes up it appears under extruded. As the flow goes down it’s looking better.
What brand(s) and type(s) of filament is it? PLA? It might help in troubleshooting.
I think I have it solved, this test was key. I did another big clean out of the nozzle and did this test and it was coming out nicely in a straight line. I figured I should do it with all the filaments to make sure they were all good. One filament (the original one that clogged) immediately clogged it up again and I had to clean it out, again. So it seems I did have a bad filament actor. Which is strange, because before it clogged I had a few perfectly fine prints with the same filament, that same day. I’m not sure why it so suddenly went bad. Repeated the tests after the new clean and looked ok, a few test prints have come out well, so tentatively continuing with my printing (minus that filament).
