Head feeder not feeding into nozzle

I have this issue where the filament is not going into the nozzle as it comes out of the feeder in the head. I did not have this issue until around 200hrs of printing. All filaments I’ve tried do this. Please see image. Why is this happening and what can be done to prevent this?

With the bend at the end of the filament, maybe cut that part off? (I do on mine when I’m loading it into the AMS, loosing a bit of filament, but that sharp angle (sharp for loading into a small hole) could be the issue?)

That angle in the filament is caused by the filament being bent out when the feeder pushes it out and it is not perfectly aligned with the nozzle so it comes out the side. On the image it is also exagerated because of how close the camera is to the filament itself.

This is 100% the issue, I got that when the dual filament guide got stuck at the highest position. Easy fix, clean the dual extrusion and make sure ir slides easily.

As I disassemble the head, I do not see a sliding guide. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong place, perhaps it is missing. Would you be so kind to point at that part in the images below?

That component is almost certainly the culprit. If it sticks in the up position, it basically opens a VIP exit for the filament. I ended up with about a meter of filament decorating the chamber before the system decided something was wrong.

While you have the assembly open, inspect that part and clear the actuator rod of any debris. Add a tiny drop of PTFE oil (or the same lubricant you use for the guide rods) and it should behave—no more jailbreaks.

One note: before this happened, I did see warnings—the left filament wasn’t being cut cleanly but torn off. If I’d checked that, I would’ve caught the issue earlier. Lesson learned: this spot is now on my regular inspection list, right between “tighten screws” and “avoid making chamber spaghetti.”

You are 100% correct. This was the part that was causing trouble as it was stuck with a small amount of filament in the axle. I cleaned it up and reinstalled it and it is ow all OK.

I wasn’t even aware of that component until other Bambu Lab users pointed me to it—credit to them for the clue. In my case, filament had wrapped around the guide rod on the Dual Filament Guide. I would have caught it sooner had I realized why the left nozzle stopped making clean cuts and began tearing the filament. If that part jams in the upper position, the left cutter won’t actuate; the system then retracts with a mix of a partial cut and a cold pull, fully automatically. A reliable early warning sign is ragged filament ends in the AMS instead of cleanly cut tips.
