Hi Everyone!! Im wondering if anyone can help me, im having trouble with supports. If I use the same material its not to bad but at times it can ruin the model imo, so I went and bought some filament from Bambu which is specially for supports. Now im realising this would only be useful for printers with double heads cus the time involved with switching is just stupid. A print which takes me 3hrs with same material supports can jump anywhere from 15hrs to 3 days! The 15 hrs is if ive just got it on the last line where it meets the model. Im pretty sure im doing something wrong so ive come here in the hope someone with the know would be kind enough to help me. Otherwise ive wasted money on 2 spools of support material. Thank you guys

Are you using the support material only for the interface or the base as well? It’s going to take a bit either way but if you use it only for the interface it’s going to go a little quicker.
You’re going to be using plastic one way or another. Supports are a necessary evil. If you are designing your own prints you may consider how you can do so with supports in mind to cut down on the material.
As for expense of the material, you can use PLA as an interface for PETG and vice versa. Still going to see that filament change when it get’s to the interfadce.
Here is the wiki page on using support material on the supertack plate. The process of selecting the interface from your AMS is the same. You can go from there within the wiki.

I believe support filaments are meant for the interface only , not the entire support system, if you are using them incorrectly it could be the cause of such lenghy printing times , because filament changes would be needed for every layer

Sorry im unsure what you mean about my typing, I know I bunched it all up. Ive just set it up as I think you guys have told me to do so. Itll take 18hrs, this is alot larger print than I set before. Does everything look as it should?? Thank you for all your help… trully appreciate it
Use the slider on the righthand side to scrowl through the layers and you will be able to see for yourself .

The way ive set it up is it going to change the filament every layer? Or does it just use the support filament at the connection points?
Ive just scrolled through and it seems to change the filament at this level, why is it doing that? It looks like its just using it in the middle of the model?

Also look at this, his face, why is it using the filament up the side of his face ina crease and also drawing that line up his forehead? Thank you
Dont confuse a seam (white ) with the interface (grey ?)

Just want to point out that .08 mm layer height will take a bit as well. @Neiljt is right, the white is a seam, not interface. That box at the top right gives you a color coded key as to what is happening in your print. It will show the colors uses, you can change it with the drop down to speed, type etc.
The majority of time spent on this print is the layer height, which is fine if you want less noticeable layer lines.

ok guys thanks for explaining, complete noob here and not the brightest mind with that. Ive now learnt a new word. If its a seam, why put it front and centre on the forehead, is it easy to learn to move these seams? Also can I take from this then my print is set up correctly, there will not be many colour changes? I do wish to have less noticable layer lines, infact the ones ive printed so far are still to visible. I thought this was down to the nozzle size, can I lower it even more then and make the lines (less visible?)

You would have to go to a .2 nozzle, and I can’t say for sure. I’ve only dipped into .2 once and it was awhile ago.
