I need some help understanding the Filament Manager. I’ve read the official Bambu description of it and it sounds pretty good. But I don’t quite understand how some of the magic works.
My question is really pretty specific: how do I get the Filament Manager to recognize and then track usage of non-Bambu filament?
Here’s a workflow that I know how to do, but I am not sure where the Filament Manager fits into this…
- In Studio, I create a new custom filament called Overture PLA Green.
- At some point, that information gets sent to the printer/AMS
- I take my brand new spool and put it in the AMS.
- Then, on the printer screen, I tell the AMS that Overture PLA Green is in slot #4 of unit A
- In Filament Manager, there is NO “Overture PLA Green”
- It’s not Bambu, so I don’t mind adding it manually. It’s brand new, so I set it to 1000g
QUESTION: if I print Benchy with that filament, would/should the Filament Manager add it to the inventory all by itself when it is finished?
QUESTION: does the Filament Manager know that the spool in the AMS is the one I called Overture PLA Green and will it track it being used when a project finishes?
Bambu spools have RFID and an ID# – so I can understand how the Filament Manager can track them. But, my 3rd party spools don’t have that or an ID number… how does the Filament Manager know that specific spool is the one being used and starts to track it?
