Hi – Trying to figure out what is happening with my P2S using 0.2mm nozzles. We had the 0.2mm nozzle working fine using PLA, but in the last week or so (s/w patch?) we now get all sorts of problems with it. Most of the time the problem is that the base layer prints razor thin to the point of basically pushing no filament at all. If it manages to reach higher layers, it gets very stringy and often fails due to jumbling of the filament.
We thought maybe the nozzle suddenly went bad so we bought two more and we get the same behavior with both. All software and firmware are up to date. We have tried with two computers, even reinstalling Bambu Studio, using basic settings, two different plates, different PLA filaments that are dry and work fine with the 0.4mm nozzle. It’s to the point now where even Flow Dynamics calibrations fail. Any ideas?
You’ve done quite a bit of troubleshooting, good. I’m just going to throw some ideas out and maybe we can get to the bottom of this together.
I know you reinstalled Bambu Studio, but when you uninstalled it, did you remove all the user files such as the filament profiles?
Is the filament you’re using for this in the AMS? If so, try doing this as an external spool.
Which PLA filaments are you using?
Have you tried reinstalling the .4mm and doing a flow dynamics cal then removing it and installing the .2mm and re-doing the flow dynamics cal without changing anything other than the nozzle?
Have you tried printing from the Bambu Handy phone app with the .2mm nozzle?
Did you run a calibration for the printer?
Have you rolled back either the firmware and or the Studio version to narrow down that it is the updates. I would do one first, note results, if same repeat with the other. Firmware upgrades it’s a good idea to run another calibration, however I’ve gotten away without. Eliminate the things that changed before the problem arose. This will tell you if there’s another influence. Always do this first (unless you’re sure it’s X). Always look at one time at a time.
Thanks for all the inputs. I downgraded the firmware in the P2S and installed the previous version of Bambu Studio on a machine that had never had a Bambu Studio installed. I also declined to download my settings from the cloud.
The problem still occurred. I finally started doing some more cold pulls with modest success. It became clear that the 0.2mm nozzles (all three!) had become badly clogged. I had to physically force the filament down through the nozzles during the cold pulls to get them to work. One is still clogged. I used the old version of the firmware and BS and ran some calibrations and it worked. Upgraded firmware and calibrations still worked. Finally went to one of our original computers with current version of BS and it works.
Maybe the problem was clogging? Seems odd that both of the new 0.2mm nozzles we bought specifically to troubleshoot this problem instantly had the same problem. Maybe our profile settings were broken. I have discarded all of those settings and will start from scratch.

I am having the exact same issue. Since the last major patch that includes all the filament profiles, EVERY print with a 0.2mm nozzle ends up with heat creep. The filament expands at the point where the black heat sink meets the stainless steel nozzle. I cannot run any calibrations because the filament cannot print without clogging.
For reference, I have been printing exclusively with 0.2mm nozzles from January through April with zero issues. Since the major update in April, I have not had one successful print with the 0.2mm nozzle.
@HerrNerdstrom Were you able to fix this through more troubleshooting?
Nothing more than listed above. I admit that I have been too squeamish to try using a 0.2mm nozzle since then – I’m sort of waiting for another major upgrade (no more betas!) before trying again.
That’s unfortunate. Tough to eliminate a major function of the printer. I just downgraded from 2.7.0.55 back to 2.6.0.51 and the calibration print is going well. Perhaps try that if you didn’t already?
