HELP! Scarf Joint/ seam under extrusion

Hi everyone I have just downloaded the latest software as of 11/13/2024.
I use my x1c’s as a production machine and make my parts at mass. Each part can be text edited by the buyer so I am always making adjustments to the parts.
Recently I loaded the files into the printer and printed and found an issue. I tried to adjust the settings for this issue and no matter what I did, the result was the same. The problem is with the scarf Joint/ seam. The odd part is that it only performs this malfunction at the exact same layer height. starting at layer 129-163. The seam under extrudes. It does no change if I move the seam around the part, front, backk, side, it is always 129-163. My settings are in the pictures. The settings in the pictures have been changed or edited in every way without any difference. as you can see in the pictures there is a strange change in the travel of the hot end. from a z hop to what appears to be no z hop. I have researched this travel move over and over and cannot find a solution. It also appears I cannot turn off the Scarf Joint anymore, as I used to be able to.

suggestions would be very helpful as my customers are no getting delayed and I am burning money from printing these parts. Side note, this has never happened before. The seam issue is new. Filament is tpu 95A ninja. dried and in perfect condition.

I’ve not used a scarf seam with the newest Studio, but …
What happens if you uncheck the box for Smart scarf seam application?

Or set Scarf seam type to None?

While you are trying to sort this out, you should be able to use the portable version of Studio 1.9.7.52 to get your orders out. Just unzip into a folder and run bambu-studio.exe from that folder, which can just be deleted when the issue with the new version is resolved.

Ikraus,
I searched the by object and general settings I did not find that option. I then looked at your top search bar and saw it was under the volumetric speed which is located under filament. I looked there and found that it is already set to None, 0%, scarf length is still set to 10. I will turn that to 0 but I does appear the scarfing is no longer at 10. It confuses me that between those layer 130ish to 160ish is the only time it does this. No matter where I place the seam or no matter were the seam is automated. It makes those same movements every time.
The rest of the print is flawless. Maybe the best I have ever been able to print it. Clean as it gets. It is the one spot and one spot only between these layers.
I am going to revert back to 1.9. Thank you for looking into this for me.

It to me 2 days to find the problem. This function is useless at the moment and just produces trouble for me.

Turn it of and it (brown) works as before.

I would like to include an image, but it doesn´t let me. :frowning:

Wanted to chime in and say that I have the exact same problems with scraf seams in the latest version of Bamby Studio 1.10.1.50. Scarf seams were almost perfect before the update.

P1A .04 nozzle, PEI plate
Bambu PLA
standard .2mm process
Completed both manual calibrations
From my knowledge I have updated the bambu studio as well update to the P1S machine itself.

I was looking on babu wiki and clearly its showing alot of settings and options for a older version…
Talking about Seam gap adjustment… Does this even exist any more?

To which under quality you have Seam settings

As well in the filament has settings as well, on mentioned is “scarf seam type”
none, contour, etc,
So if its set to NONE does that mean its off >?

On my version setting it to none always disables the scarf seam (in the simple tests I ran just now).

If I set the Color Scheme to flow on mine it is easy to see the scarf seam (when enabled).

flow

Ok thanks for the information
I wish these threads had not been merged they are similar but as well different.

No matter what but I’m assuming Sean gap setting has disappeared.

what view are you using to see that ?

I turned on seam only
As well added some photos,
Strangely the cap on the right did not get any scarf added, but the item on the right did.
Then with the addition of the contour and hole, the item on the right got a scarf added to the inside but not the outside.

I tried it on another project and noticed that it only applied a scarf to the inner threaded cylinder. But completely missed that outer cylinder inner and outer.

Do you have " Smart scarf seam application" checked?

sorry in the delay

I have seam section on all the factory settings,
On of my big questions not answered was in the filament settings its has scarf seam type “”" says NONE"“”
So does that mean its not in use ??

I managed to add the photo into this responce

scarf

Scarfs were moved almost immediately after they were added into a version of Bambu Studio.

It seems some materials didn’t do well with them, so, they were moved to the filaments section.

You need to select the type of Scarf seam from the screenshot with the big red arrow or they will not work.

Great eh!
