HELP! z-axis broke! Rear destroyed

I was in the middle of a print and there was a massive layer gap and it was air printing. Turns out my rear lead screw is not making contact with the guide in the heat bed. The rear of the bed is just flopping around in the wind! How can I fix this and in a timely matter? I did email support but I have no idea how long that will take. Anyone know what part I need and how to fix this?

Its the brass part that grabs the lead screw. Or what’s left of it :head_shaking_vertically: Its completely stripped and I cant seem to find the part for sale. I decided to check my other 2 H2D’s and they all have play in the heatbed! Now I’m honestly just sick.

I have a few hundred hours on my H2D so far. How much did you get to before this play was observed?

I wonder if it’s a lubrication issue? If it’s just a brass/bronze bushing that the lead screw rides in, unless it’s an oil-lite bronze impregnated with oil, I could see this being a wear point if it isn’t greased regularly. I don’t remember seeing anything about it in the maintenance article on the Wiki, either.

btw died at 2560 hours. Not much of a life span for a bambu…

That’s essentially a death sentence for any help topic if the author is too lazy to provide the necessary information and expects users to read their mind and/or do all the work for them.

Think very carefully about whether you want to write a reasonable comment and gather all the necessary information right now. It’s not too late yet. Otherwise, I can tell you right now that your post will be quickly forgotten.

If you write to them in the same bored tone, I can tell you right now that it’s going to be very time-consuming and tedious - for the support, of course.

You can easily upload a video to youtube and post the link here… But that photo does look like damage to the lead screw - whoever that printer belongs to.

Take a screenshot of the video if you have to. Even boomer-style using phone to take a pic of a video. Anything but some random pic on the internet!

I see this was my failure. I apologies to everyone, I was under the impression when I stated in my original post that the heat bed is flopping in the rear that it was self explanatory.

Not sure what else to say, 2500 hours in and the leadscrew bearing/nut is gone. I googled this and apparently its a wide spread issue with the first few batches of the H2D. No replacement parts are sold either.

Its a leadscrew nut thats stripped out. Not sure what a picture would do since you cant see the inside of the nut but someone mentioned a youtube vid and I figured why not. Never considered using it as a personal video host before but it works :smiley:

Gotta wonder if they shipped a bunch that weren’t greased.

There does not appear to be any grease on this screw.

After 2500 hours, they should have cleaned and greased it ~10 times…

Not shipping with grease shouldn’t have been that big of a deal. Plus with that amount of use, all the factory grease is long gone.

That’s as may be, as they say. But to me, anyway, that screw doesn’t look like it’s ever been greased.

What the problem is, is still not shown! Lead screw can’t even be seen

I’m not trying to get down on you about this but you gotta document this better if you want support to identify / provide parts / help you in a reasonable amount of time. Get some pics of the lash nut and the condition of the lead screw

Sorry its just stressful. I have 3 H2D’s and all 3 have had problems. From nozzle heaters frying, to cords damaged, to motherboard fan replacements, now lead screw bearing failures. I have a bunch of carbons and P1S’s with over 10K hours on each and they have just needed nozzles. This has been rather depressing.

Well first, your attitude is not quite warming. I’m actually muting you after this.
However the odds of 1 person buying 3 defective machines are long. Very long.
If it were a known issue that is widespread it would have appeared here long before and a bigger deal would have been made about it. But at least you did a Google Search.
Personally I think you should head to Reddit. However there are people far more patient than I here.
