I think it is the epitome of ironic incompetence that you site security as your reason for your last few bios updates. I remember when I first got the printer trying to call your tech support to figure out where data was being sent. And you couldn’t answer. “The internet” you basically said. And if I block “the internet” it will not work. So, you don’t know where it sends data. You don’t know if/when that location will change. But GOD FORBID that a 3rd party app like Orca Slicer may connect directly to the printer and do what your software does, but better. THAT certainly isn’t secure!
And I know you eventually added options that allowed it to work, but you also keep saying “we could change our minds and break it because SECURITY.

Could your information be outdated, too? You can access the printer’s API. Just as third-party software developers and hardware developers can access the API. Of course, certain points can be criticized, but it is factually incorrect to say that there is no access nor direct contact to the printer.
I think you should read the wiki urgently: Also how security works, developer mode, etc., and that it’s no problem to write software for Bambu printers. You just have to set up the security handshake as a software developer.

in a word, yes. I stopped using the printer for various reason right after they pushed the first update. And yes, you are generally correct in that they fixed most of the issues that people complained about.
But, you also missed the “allow the internet” section. Because their existing security was so bad, and they couldn’t be bothered to fix it correctly.

You can connect to a Raspberry Pi and control it via the home network with no problems at all. The only manufacturer I know of that causes problems is Biqu, but only if you upgrade youre printer to firmware that is too new.
However, this is more a problem caused by Biqu, who do not adapt their own software. That is an entirely different issue. This only applies to the Panda Touch, which is one accessory. The newer Panda Knomi Smart Display, on the other hand, also works with the current firmware.
Beside: Nothing prevents you from using other accessories such as the Raspberry Pi + Display.
No one is stopping you from copying the RFID from the spools, just to give one example, and making your own accessories.
Yes, you should definitely read up on the topic. Not meant sarcastically, but with good intentions. Rather than ranting, why not write down what you’re missing? I’m sure someone can suggest a workaround.
You won’t have to invest days of your time, though. Someone will simply post the solution here in the forum if it’s achievable. One possibility is, for example, to downgrade your printer. You don’t have to have the latest version, but as I said, first you have to say what’s really causing you trouble.
Bambu nor support won’t read your rant anyway, so don’t get your hopes up. If anything, you can get help from the community for a workaround.
